anyone have some tips for pulling the boat off of the trailer? I've seen some people use jacks at the rear, a lift at the front, scoot the trailer forward, move the jacks behind the trailer, then pull it fully out.

Are you trying to work on the trailer or the boat?

Hook up a chain around a tree to both of the hooks on the transom, or rear cleats, remove winch hook and all straps.
Hit the gas.:skull

Did this once to a buddy's boat that was junk.:D

Float the boat and put two straps on the bunks and then put the boat back on. Pull it out and now you could hoist it off and set it on a stand of some sorts. You could use a loader/forklift to lift the boat. Rent one from united rentals or something like that.

We have used Floor jacks, Jack stands and Blocks before.

Jack the boat up in front then set it on jack stand and 2x4s then jack up the rear, and slide the trailer forward until you need to relocate. It?s quick and easy. We have done it several times just make sure everything is even, and the blocks are sitting nice on the bottom of the boat. I try and set them under the stingers if at all possible. Good Luck

i found a good read thru google where you can put the front of the trailer on the ground, put blocks/jacks under the rear, then lift the bow up, the trailer will drop from under the raised boat, hold the front up (lift or blocks) and then pull the trailer out.

if it works all is good, if not expect to see another thread about how to lift a boat off the ground. haha.

ive done this more times that i wish i ever have.

what i have done is used 2 cherry pickers. one has chains that are bolted through the stringer where the motor mounts.

the other i take the neck out of the cherry picker, flip it over and the 'slot' where the chain normally bolts, i drop the bow eye in there...slide a bolt through. you lift up the boat and slide the trailer out from under it.

heres some pics...

I have seem people use the dual cherry picker method, bu they put a strap through the bow eye, up around both sides of the bow, and hook to the cherry picker above the deck.

I think 460 used the Jack method when he did his trailer. Good Luck.

this method works great....but the strap gets in the way if youre painting it.

I am getting ready to do the same thing to my trailer. Heres my plan.
I am going to use a tow strap under the headers along the heads up to a cherry picker. I am going to enlist the help of 3 buddys to help hold the bow up while the trailer gets pulled out the front. Then I am going to set it down on some old 35in mudder tires.

This is how I did it. Picked it up and slowly pulled the trailer out. At this point of the pic, I used a floor jack under the front. Old tires work great as a base.

I did mine with a cherry picker in the front, then used a big ratchet that I hung from a beam in my garage, then I hooked it up to the rear stringers with a tie down around the rail kit bolts. It took about an hour. I have pics on my home computer, I'll try to post them last.

Yeah, when I bought it. But I ripped it all off and it looks brand new and 100 times better. Before it looked all worn out and stuck in the 70's. Plus the fringe was all falling apart, huge places missing and would just fall off if touched. My girl keeps telling me I need to put the fringe back on. Haha

Funny mine came with the exact same bimini and I fucking left it at the car wash (what a dumb ass)!! My wife was pissed for a while but thanks to cambell carl I got hooked up with a another one that is just plain white and my wife says I have to put the fringe back on because she says it makes the look of the boat!! Oh well I learned my lesson about taking shit off the boat while I'm not @ home.
