Ordered a new 22 talon XL 400r today. Expect to see it by fall. They are doing some dash modifications to facilitate vessel view screens.

Here are some pictures of a 22SS. Little lower freeboard on the SS. XL is a little higher freeboard more wind protection as well.

Should run 110 mph plus. 70 to 80 gallons of gas.

I will continue to post as pictures become available of the build.

All last year I was talking to Todd about building the XL, I will still build one but not until after my "D" is final...I love the look of the XL...

You really like the 400's it seems?

You've had a talon correct? I think you were happy with it as well ? Yes the 400s are truly the best engines ever. So many benefits.

That should be a great package Bully. Such a good hull. My I/O was very impressive. I recommend an interior by the guy who does the DCBs. I cant remember his name but he did mine. Very good work.

I've always thought that 22xl was the perfect mix of a boat. They're fast, respectable in rough water for their size, and I like the freeboard and look of them.

Can't wait to see this one done up with a 400. What color???

I was in Dayton Ohio last week went through colors details touched my engine. Getting excited. They are taping the mold now.

BTW the other engine is for Ryan's boat ( another west coast boat ).

Hello Church!
Thanks Paul for the pics of motors at SEB! Here are some early pics I drew of color. Probably going to do a stripe or 4 on front. Silver is going to continue around the back. Looking forward to these 2 boats. My boat is going in the mold after Paul's.

It's going to be sweet man!
Shit hot rocket for sure,

Do you remember you were coming out of the topok gorge in your skater, I went from a dead stop to 110 and passed you and Scott. Mine with twins ran hard!

I sure loved my Talon and would have never sold it it were not for my split up.

I'm gonna need a ride Bully!

Glad they are making progress on this, gonna be fantastic. I know F14's 22 Talon BBC I/O was an amazing machine. No hop at all and turned great. He was just tired of car motors & all the bs.

The Talon bottom is the most copied bottom in the industry. It does everything well. I have not seen any other center pod tunnel hull do as well as the Talon.

I have been in the Talon with a 400.....Awesome boat. Does everything well , turns great no porpoise.
I can't comment on th KMG I have no experience in it. I say demo both and make up your own mind.

Well the KMG is the old DCB Mach 22. I don't think KMG has done much of any tweaking to it. It's a good, solid hull that performs well but I believe the Talon is a good bit better of a performer in most ways. The interior in the Talon is much more cramped and pretty specific task oriented.

Keep in mind, these are my observations based upon opinions and impressions I've gotten from others that have ridden in them and comparing various pictures and such.

should be a great Co river boat. it will likely be faster than my twin 400 28 speedster. as i mentioned to you in our call, i cannot get mine to go over 104@6400 rpm. it is back at Eliminator. they want to try it themselves. i doubt that they will do much better, other than a couple of mph if they test on a cold day. the last time i took it out, i took all excess weight out and ran the tanks almost dry. i also tried trimming it to the moon in small increments. eliminator is taking a mercury field tech to elisinore on tuesday. hopefully he has some diagnostic tools that he can plug in. others suggested going down in pitch to get the rpms up. this would defeat the purpose of building a lighter boat and paying up for the 34 pitch cnc cleavers. other 28's bang the limiters around 7100 rpm at 126 with the same props.

not meaning to hijacked your thread, just updating my ongoing saga. i have always thought Talons were great boats. too bad they got splash so much that their sales declined and they went away. that's a complement to their design.

I'm hoping to stop in and check out this build myself in a week or two when I go pick up the StressEliminator from interior at Checkmate in Bucyrus, OH, about an hour and fifteen minutes away.

If I was building a new boat, I'd be looking awfully hard at one of these. Can't wait to see it completed!
