New light / siren / radar interface in the cars, nothing new with the units themselves.

Or do you mean the new radar / laser detector detectors? [emoji851]

Does it really matter. If the aircraft gets you using the mile markers, you still can't beat Motorola...

Is this a real thing though? Wondering how one of these would do in court also

When you see that sign "speed controlled by aircraft" and you get popped without seeing the patrol car, you will have figured it out the hard way.

So, in my area a K warning on the detector typically means a stationary speed sign ahead, a KA warning is an actual LEO vehicle with active radar and the laser warning really almost never goes off. However, the last couple of weeks or so, the laser has been going off quite a bit yet, I never see anything.

We have a lot of CHP about in my general area. Think this might be the reason?

The laser warning on my V1 goes off every time I come out of the Vidal inspection station.

PS if you have ever wondered why the white line breaks at every mile marker in the middle of the desert... Or a horizontal line /number one the asphalt... Think of that for second or two. It only takes a stopwatch to figure out your speed...

I have not seen an airplane in years near the 40. Ever since the lone CHP pilot had a heart attack or something and crashed YEARS ago... like 12 or more..

Anyone else see a plane recently?

I haven't needed to wonder about that for over 40 yrs..actually never really wondered, it is common knowledge. 😊

See them working the I-15 south of Barstow regularly but that’s about the only place. Usually 5-6 patrol cars pulling over what the plane is reporting.

I have 2 detectors and on 1 in the Amazon comments someone mentioned car radar can set them off. Don’t know if it’s true or not. The radar used for adaptive cruise control. Lane assist.

Thanks, I’ll run flightradar24 while driving that area from now on

Ha, I’m a recipient of one of the ‘gotcha with aircraft buddy’ tickets in this corridor! Been a few years, but I remember being genuinely surprised when CHP rolls onto the on-ramp and chased me down (I’d been driving in my mirrors for some time).

I have 2 Valentine ones and they very rarely show KA anymore. Do they need to be updated in any way?

We travel I-40 every Wednesday to and from Havasu and get KA alerts. We also get Laser alerts but never see anything... probably caused by other sources. We usually cruise about 80ish.

Thanks for the "tips" about the white lines and signs about aircraft enforcement. Stevie Wonder knows about them too.

I've used Valentine One (V1) radar/laser detectors for years. And they've saved me from tickets and higher insurance many times. One of the best investments if you driver over the limit.

I know all about aircraft enforcement - I got popped by aircraft twice - once on the 101 up near King City (you may know about that place's reputation for being a speed trap- https://www.speedtrap.org/california/king-city/) and of all places, on Beach Boulevard by the HBPD chopper. Beat the ticket because I fought it and both LEOs didn't come to court.

I always used to not pay attention to K band on the AZ 40 but they still use it as of last week. Usually it's another car that sets off k band
Normally it's Ka band for speed radar
I think CRIT in Parker still uses K band

Got lit up by the Chiaroco airplane once.
Towing doin about 80 up the grade looked out and saw we were being paced. Plane had a light on? Told my brother and we slowed expecting to get it at the summit. After we slowed plane peeled off and that was it.

Did a Slash X day run in the UTV’s one of those days. Ended up sitting up on a mountain side eating lunch watching them pick people off non stop. It’s almost entertaining when it’s not me getting pulled over 😆

I’ve noticed a huge upswing in CHP’s out on the highways now that Covid is making an exit. I’m sure Fuhrer Newsome has given orders to start making up for all the tickets they haven’t issued the last 12 months.

My escort just went off because behind me was and Evel Knievel on the highway by Costco in Henderson. Love my Escort. It’s wireless so no ugly power cord. Was doing 78 so it definitely saved me.

I saw 5 different CHP motorcycle cops with folks pulled over between Upland and the 15 on the WB 210 last Wednesday. Was totally shocked at the level of enforcement.

My wife and I had just been talking about how poorly everyone’s been driving and that the police don’t seem to be enforcing moving violations. Previously we figured with BLM, ‘defund the police’ and the poor general perspective of law enforcement, it probably isn’t worth most cops effort and exposure to make contact with drivers over little things.

Looks like CHP is back at work.

it does set it off
Used to see the plane around Chiriaco but havent seen it in some years. I did get caught by the airplane team West of Blythe many years ago coming home from the Parker 400.

For the 1st time I got hit by a laser going down the hill to water road exit. I have never been hit with a laser on the 40 before it has always been the KA band. Lucking I know CHP sit down there a bunch so I was going the proper speed 🤣

Haha we don’t worry in the islands. Rule of thumb here is 5 under the posted speed limit.
True... lol... i spent a bit of time on Oahu helping a family member. At first it drove me crazy, but after adjusting to Hawaii time it was all good.

The CHP used to use aircraft daily near my home. I believe they weren't allowed to use Radar on the freeways back in the old days. Now that they use Radar, I havent seen the plane working the freeway in at least a decade.

So lets get back to the point of the topic

Does CHP use a new frequency radar gun, that is not covered in the typical X, K, Ka, or super wideband KA frequencies, dont really care about laser as its pointless for a detector because if you get a hit on the source you are already fucked for a speeding ticket

Ok, can’t blame them. You need a trophy race truck to ride in the right two lanes. 😂
With the highest gas taxes in the nation you would think our state highways would be of Autobahn quality, but with the priority being given to the illegals (not even citizens of this country), and services provided for them before everything else, you can see how the roads are in such disrepair.

Enjoy driving 5 over. Or 5 under of whatever lah-de-dah speed you drive. Just keep to the right so I and 70% of the others on the road don't have to brake because you're playing pokey in the fast lane

There is no fast lane bozo. It’s a passing lane. I don’t care if your going Mach 2. Get your ass in the right after you pass

You're right, there is no fast lane bozo. There was a clown named Bozo 😁

You can call it "the fast lane" or "a passing lane" but we all know it's the number 1 lane 😁

And if no one is driving up my bumper I'll stay in that lane until I don't

i just made the drive from Barstow to the river. Got two separate hits of KA band. Both times CHP was there.
