Noticed it's on the Mercury Marine page, but not the Mercury Racing page. I wonder if that means anything?

So just looked at this. Mercury Marine is blue checked and Mercury Racing is not. So I would say it is a legit post.

It's a legit post, just saying, it not being posted on their racing page might give a clue to at least what it's not.

250hp and under 400lbs would be nice.

Edit: for a reasonable price

God that would be AWESOME!!!

The blue check means its a verified account by instagram is all.

I'm kinda hoping for a little weight reduction and boost to the four stroke v6 line-up.... Id imagine the 300ish hp and sub 450# range should be attainable in that engine.

If not this time around, its only a matter of time before we get Electric as an option. Don't hold your breath for a full day of boating with it anytime soon. And battery weight more suited for a tug boat than a performance boat.

the 300r v8 is an 87 octane motor... lots of room to grow!
doubt this, not with out adding weight and size..we will see?I guess you could up comp ratio to 91 octane..its amazing they get some kind of tuned exhaust in the "size-package"they have now..still too heavy for my kind off boating..I like 0-100mph in sub 10 second range..

I bet its an outboard for larger heavier vessels, center consoles, and cruiser style boats/yachts. I bet it will be heavy, and similar to the seven marine, Yamaha 425. But thats just my guess ;)

Im thinking something similar. Don’t think they would use the term luxury for a “racing” product.

Can you prove this?
Asking for a friend...
If I recall rumor was there was going to be a release of a 500 in 2020, guess we will have to wait till Miami till we find out

7.6 litre, w/turning gears. Ocean Boat motor.
Safety in numbers - we're still interested in twin 400's.

While I understand you sentiment in terms of a performance engine... an electric outboard would have amazing application in many boats.

1) houseboat lake powell with a pair of twin electric OBs / lithium battery bank and a solar array on top of the upper patio cover,.. would result in a house boat with endless range and no 1000s of dollar bills at the end of the trip... and you also already have a generator if the sun and clouds don't cooperate...
2) Dingys/tenders for cruisers, no more extra/separate fuel to deal with
3) both applications above go from gas/oil based OBs with rigorous maintenance schedules to basically maintenance free...
4) If the range is good it might also become the defacto choice for non performance pontoon boats that only want to go 15 mph... no more 75-90 hp pontoons.

The twin 400’s on our Trifecta have been great!

I like this quote, regarding the rotating gear box

"This provides more room for multi‑engine configurations"

What like 6 isn't enough
