We bought our house in May, so when we got the inspection in April, we had Desert Storm come out and give us a bid. We sent off the deposit as soon and we knew closing was going to happen. We were told Sept 7th was our start date. That day turned out to be Labor Day, but they did start the 8th.

Here is the bare backyard. It’s not very big, so it keeps our options limited. I meant to get a pic of the pool drawn out on the ground, but I forgot. Then I accidentally shut my wifi off before I left town, so I didn’t get the dig on film either. Here is the after pic.

The Rebar guys didn’t show up as scheduled, but he had a family emergency. They showed up a few days later and made quick work of it.

Which brings me to my 5am wake up this morning. Shot Crete..

Things seem to be moving along nicely.

That is so cool, I know the house. Did you bother to get two quotes or just one from Desert Storm?

how big is it? Nice size fits the back yard with room for a Pergola or something. That’s sweet to have the camera on it

Our dig with desert storm should be starting by the end of the month.

I was just looking at the pics and noticed the scuppers off the back wall, not sure oh far off the back wall the pool is but In a heavy rain the drain water might get inside the pool And it’s usually nasty / dirty. It would suck to get the pool Wet when it rained.... LoL

you might want to dig a trench and add a drain pipe and tie those in. Mine would splatter water all over the patio when it rained.

Congrats on the pool build. You will really enjoy coming off the water and swimming after wiping boat down. My favorite time to swim.

Roof water is not allowed to drain to pool. I'm sure the fine LHC building dept. wouldn't allow it.

Haha, trust me. That was my first concern. I can’t imagine all that dirty roof water filling my clean hot tub. We are working on addressing that now. I’m not totally sure what the solution is yet.

Dimensions are 15x32. Hot tub is 8x12. It’s bigger than I expected.

Cut the scuppers shorter and run a downspout horizontally to the side yard, then down and away from the structure. Any rain gutter company could handle it.

Got the gutters installed and some tile work done. Everything seems to be moving a little behind schedule. 6-8 week quoted build and we are in week 7.

I’m not sure I know what’s next. I assume they will do more tile around the spa and coping, then do the pavers around the patio and yard and finish with plaster. I’m not totally sure.

Thanks! We can’t wait.

She is a sweet little idiot. We are just watching her for some other folks, but she always wants to be involved in everything I’m doing.

They got to work early this morning on the coping. I gotta say, I didn’t expect that on a Sunday morning.

we are in the 8th week now. Doesn’t look like we will make it in the “6-8 weeks”. Not that it would be very enjoyable in the cold wind.

6 to 8 weeks lol ! We are like 5 months in and now have a 6 week delay for the fire bowls and table top . Different builder in a different town . It looks like you dont have a step in your spa . Was that on purpose ? We are debating having one added for the older friends .

Which travertine color is that ? Is that the silver one ?

Silver travertine. I think it was an extra buck a sq/ft. It matches our house a lot better than the standard travertine with yellow tones to it.

I have a question about travertine. Isn’t it a relatively soft, sandy stone? I’ve been to a house in Havasu where the travertine deck was just crumbling in spots. I’ve noticed it’s quite popular though.

We got the pool equipment installed and plumbed. Electrician comes tomorrow, then paint on the pipes and the inspection on Friday.

Now we need to decide on a cover or some sort of enclosure. The Pavers and pool are really coming together. It’s supposed to get plaster early next week and be filled before thanksgiving.

One issue we aren’t that excited about is when they put the decking in, they went over onto my neighbor’s property with it. There was absolutely no communication, before or after. Luckily my neighbor doesn’t mind.

Looks awesome. great view too. I gotta say, I really dig the builds where the pool comes up really close to the house and patio cover. I mean I like a huge back yard and stuff too but there's just something I've always liked bout having the pool sucked up to the house. Easy access, brings the inside outside and vice versa just flows nicer.

At our house it's a race to see who can get into the pool first after getting the boat put away!! That's when I get to have a beer!! 😁

When my wife designed our pool her thoughts were about "drunk old people". Her plan came out perfect, the pool is easy peezy to get in and out of with her "short" steps!!

Chuck (Arizona Luxury Decks) and his guys do great work , i would highly recommend them and Chuck comes by the job site and checks on their work several times a a day.
Chuck did our Travertine. Their work is fantastic, his team of Angel and Angel or Angel squared, did ours. It's been 5 years and we have replaced a couple pieces of travertine. We asked and received several extra pieces just for that reason. They are very easy to replace.
