Just got back this last weekend from picking up my new truck camper. I've been hunting and shopping for a few years and covid really did a number on the RV prices, but things finally got back into the realm of reality now so I pulled the trigger on a new stock 2023 camper that was sitting around up in Montana.

It was a bit of a hike up to Montana, but i'm all about adventures! I talked my dad into heading up there with me, and we had a good time. Two days up, and three days heading back home.

We hit some of the coldest temps i've ever experienced personally, so that was interesting.

Poor trucker looks like he swapped ends and flopped his truck over, they were unloading this thing at around 4* and trying to get it upright.

Beatiful shots from rolling through the mountains of Idaho

This was heading into West Yellowstone, just about to turn onto the main drag and head north into Big Sky

This was the hotel parking lot in Bozeman in the morning, got a light dusting that previous night.

Starting the truck at -18 was a pretty interesting experience. I heard noises that I never heard before, and I really cant explain, I know I certainly wish I had a socket to plug that block heater into

About the coldest temp I saw along the trip, we left just before it started dipping down into the -30's

This was right after picking it up, and we started heading home.

yup!

first night made it down to Ogden, just found a quiet spot off of the highway, it was about 11* around 9pm when we pulled off. Fired up the heater and it got the camper from ~30* up to 65* in about 25minutes. Pretty comforable, heater clicked on and off maybe every 20minutes throughout the night.

second night we stayed at a friends property in Enterprise Ut, mainly stopped just to let my dad visit with one of his old high school buddies. It was a much more mild 36* there.

I have to say, its a farking trip to think, from -24 to 36* is a 60* swing of temp!, and theres still snow on the ground!

Nice set up!!

When I was single, I had an 11.5' Lance Camper and it was so nice for those spur of the moment trips. I would head home on my lunch hour, load it onto my truck, and throw my dirt bike into a trailer hitch hauler. Off we would go for a weekend.

Something to be said about simplicity.

yup thats pretty much my thoughts.

I dont have any kids, and everyone i know has their own rigs. So this checks all of my boxes ( full off grid, can off road deep into blm land, full feature camper )

Amazing how much they can pack into a cab over!

yea, its not joke.

they come with 600watts of solar, full size fridge / freezer, real oven, full size queen mattress, real hardwood cabinets, dual pane windows, r7 4 season insulation, heated tanks

couple that w/ the nice shit.... 3 way fridge (ac/dc/propane), AC w/ heat pump, etc

The big boy, big $$ Host campers are INSANE inside!

those campers are no joke, dual pop outs on both sides, fireplaces, all sorts of shit.

Did my first real offroad trip with the camper this last weekend for my bday.

Ran up to Mammoth, covered about 4-5 miles of fire roads, and then about 2-3 miles of narrow jeep trails or sxs trails.

She’s a big girl for hauling through the off camber and rutted out sections. Slow is steady, that’s for sure!

I really wish I had a 2wd low option! I never felt the need for 4wd, but I could have very much used the low range in the box.

Here’s a few pics!

Id be up in the sierra‘s just like that !
fishing and camping …. Shoot, just taking in all that fresh air and a good book w/ a cold drink is awesome !
