I was just going to buy new, thanks for the offer. BTW, what helm did you use in your boat?

I picked up a dual pull / pull from River Games on the boards, I had my BIL modify the long post a bit and I really dig it.

Pat,

Your Spectra 20 looks great!

I like the color and you kept the original design.

Good Luck!

Brent

Thanks, I tried to save the wood grain but it was going to be too much work. We tried to keep it simple with not too many colors....still keep a classic look.

I drilled all the "black rot" from dozens of screw holes in the top of the stringers and then patched the holes. All the stringers are solid but since its all exposed I decided to install a layer of 1708 over all four stringers.

I decided to install and wire the bow light and install the front S.S. rub rail before I glass in the bulkhead support. It will be pretty difficult to get my fat a$$ through that small hole once it's installed.:D

The self-centering drill bit is a must when installing the rub rail. But, installing small chrome plated S.S. bolts with nylock bolts is not a fun task under the bow.

Shoutout to "Parkertime" for answering my post on old school vent covers. Next time I'm in Havasu, the beers are on me.:beer

I found these swim steps on CL, not a stress crack in them. I will have Don at Pats Fiberglass gel coat them to match the boat.

Progress is slow due to work load, but moving forward. Installed the new belly tank.

It is the factory hardtop. It's a 1980 with a merc 260 I/O. After doing some research on the motor & drive I believe it was changed out with a R/MC Alpha. I'm guessing around '83 or '84. Here are a few more pics.

I just bought the same exact boat with the factory hardtop engine cover. Found it up in Ft. Mohave. Was owned by an older retired couple that no longer used her. Mine has a teak swimstep instead of a Fibreglass one. Nice boat.

Congratulations! My son almost brought that boat so we could have matching Spectra’s. She looks like she’s in good shape.

Hey Spectra Pat by chance do you still have the old exhaust manifolds that came off your mercruiser 260. I’m looking to install wet exhaust on my boat and I really like how yours dumped out above the swim step. I just picked up a Spectra 20 just like yours with hard cover and teak strips. Mine also came with a teak swim step. Photos below. Joe

Not a big fan of the large shifter trim plate so I removed it and mounted the shifter without it. It definitely is a cleaner look.

The dash looks great! Classic look and that steering wheel is perfect. Nicely done.

Not sure if your OK with the shifter being that high above the gunwale, I have seen guys mount them lower by hanging an aluminum plate from the original hole and moving the shifter assembly down 4-6". Are you going to run upholstered side boards? If yes all of this could be hidden behind the board.

Thanks for taking along on the journey. These resto threads are the reason I'm here.

Thanks. Actually it’s the perfect height and I can rest my arm on the gunwale. If I don’t like it, I’ll machine a new smaller handle. Not sure how I’m going to do the side panels yet, still thinking about that.

Drop the motor in to test fit and see where I’m going to mount the auxiliary items. I’ll take it back out to finish rigging.

Installed the trim pump, water separator, and oil cooler. Relocated the pump relays to keep the engine bay from getting cluttered. The plan is to mount most of the auxiliary items and wiring behind removable side panels.

Started marking the layout to drill the exhaust. Thought I had the hole saw but have every size but the one I need. 🙁
