I have a NIB Xantrex Freedom SW2012 12V 2000W Inverter Charger (Part# 815-2012) and Xanbus system control panel. Purchased for my RV and never installed it and I am going a different route with my setup.

$1200

The New Generation of Freedom SW 2000 represents a highly sophisticated and advanced inverter/charger. This second generation 2000 watt model has been completely redesigned to include many of the same great features found in its high power counterpart. A key feature enhancement is 'Generator Support Mode' which enables the Freedom SW to supplement a generator¹ when AC loads exceed the generator's capacity. The new generation models also feature improved AC transfer/AC input detection time, providing the ability to transfer AC loads to batteries in less than 10 milliseconds when the incoming grid or generator power is lost. Connected loads are almost unable to feel the power transition due to this quick transfer time. The Freedom SW 2000 also offers both parallel and series stacking capability and are approved to UL458 with marine supplement, CSA, ABYC and FCC, Class B requirements.

  • Product Features
    • Pure sine wave output to operate sensitive electronics
    • Advanced configuration options for customized applications
    • Built-in transfer switch automatically transfers between inverter power and incoming AC power
    • Power factor corrected multi-stage charger for fast, efficient charging
    • Temperature compensated charging for most climate conditions.
    • Ignition lockout feature helps to minimize unnecessary battery drain (when used with On/Off Remote Panel - sold separately)
    • Conformal coated circuit boards for humid environments
    • Ability to charge batteries drained to extremely low voltage
  • Parallel and Series Stacking
    • Parallel stacking enables the Freedom SW inverter/chargers to double the AC output in inverter mode.
    • Series stacking enables the Freedom SW inverter/chargers to generate 120/240 V split phase output. (AC source must be split phase, requires Stacking Cable, part# 808-9005).
  • Protection Features
    • Battery over-voltage protection(16.5 VDC, selectable)
    • Battery under-voltage protection (10.5 VDC, selectable)
    • Over-temperature shutdown
    • Automatic overload protection
    • Short-circuit protection
    • Integrated, resettable AC breakers
  • Applications
    • Designed for a variety of mobile applications such as commercial, emergency and recreational vehicles, marine vessels, construction and military equipment.

Use the System Control Panel for quick and comprehensive control of the Freedom SW Inverter/Charger.

The Xanbus System Control Panel (SCP) features a graphical, backlit LCD screen that displays system configuration and diagnostic information in one central location. Large keypad buttons, an intuitive onscreen menu system, and plain text status messages make it easy to configure and operate. By providing basic controls for other devices connected to the network, the SCP reduces the complexity of separate control panels for each device.

The SCP is Xanbus Enabled and easily connects to Freedom SW Inverter/Charger and other devices with off-the-shelf network cables, making installation quick and easy. Built-in flash memory makes the SCP’s software upgradeable to take advantage of new features and system enhancements.

Product Features

  • Graphical 128x64 pixel LCD display
  • Large, tactile keys
  • Meets UL458 regulatory standards
  • Control and display of multiple networked devices
  • Xanbus Enabled
  • Dual thermostat input available to control up-to two air conditioners
Monitoring Features
  • Battery voltage, current & temperature
  • AC voltage, current & frequency
  • Inverter/Charger status
  • Generator status
  • Diagnostic information
  • Power Management System (Freedom Sequence)
Control Features
  • Inverter/Charger operation
  • Power sharing
  • Load sensing
  • Generator starting (Requires AGS, 809-0915)
Configuration Features
  • Battery type & bank size
  • Inverter/Charger settings
  • Generator start & stop triggers (Requires AGS, 809-0915)

Hey Yarder, I’ve been looking into these. The local shop wants about $2,000 to wire it in. Are you able to provide exact instructions? World Wide Web and YouTube have some conflicting ways to install.

I don't have any instructions other than what comes in the box. I am a low voltage electrician but depending on what you would be installing it in the installation can vary a bunch. It is pretty basic though, it's just power in & power out and making sure you use the right sized wire on the 12v side.

I can however recommend some installers depending on your location, but I have no idea on what it costs to install.
