My Dad and I built this car 18 years ago when I graduated high school. We built it road race style. Built 302, C4 trans, all the frame stiffeners available, disc brakes, 17” wheels, and geared to get out of the corners. Speaking of corners, this thing will corner with any sports car out there.

After I lost my Dad a few months ago, I drove down to SoCal and picked it up. And it’s great to have good friends when you need them for sure, as you see my help getting it on the trailer. She will be my therapy project.
I am going full custom pro touring with this car. It has a touch over 400hp, so no motor work needed, installing an AOD 4 speed trans to make it more cruising worthy, all new interior, and a bunch of custom body touches. The body is straight as an arrow as it is, all original, but I am looking to add quite a few modern touches to it. Not sure how long this project will take me, but I am definitely looking forward to it.

Finally started to tear her apart last weekend.
I got the motor/trans pulled. She caught me all the way, although it was probably because I’m doing this build by myself. Lol. I then got the accessories removed, and cleaned up the motor and got it ready for paint which is happening this week. This weekend it will get all of its nice new shiny parts bolted on. Once the new trans shows up in a few weeks, it will all get bolted together and installed in the car. Then it will be time for the body fun. Oh ya, I decided against the AOD conversion. Instead I’m doing a T5 5 speed install. Much more funner!!

Motor is about ready to mate to the new T5 manual transmission, new wheels are mounted up, and got the fun pedal installed, along with rebuilding the steering column and custom carbon fiber steering wheel installed.

Just caught this one again. It looks like a bit late, but if that motor has been sitting for 8 years with the valvetrain under tension, you may want to think about some new valvesprings.

If your motor is making 400HP, it is pretty stout, and likely with a good lift on the valvetrain. I would be real leery running those valvesprings after it has been sitting that long compressed.

Looking good.

Good eye, and thoughts. I’m ahead of you though, just didn’t get any pictures. I did change the lifters, rockers and springs. Just because they have been sitting for a while. Lol

She will fire today! Tried yesterday and pulled out all my hair! No power to the switch, or starter. Ended up having two scotches and a cigar instead. Lol. Last night in my sleep, o realized that when I did the 5sp manual conversion, I didn’t do anything with the neutral safety switch. So once I jumped it, it started cranking! Problem was, it wouldn’t stop! I installed a new starter solenoid yesterday, so it’s looking like my ignition switch is bad. As soon as I swap it out, we should be in business.

It’s alive! It needs some serious timing work, and a new starter after I burned out the original. Lol. But runs. Updates to come this weekend. Hopefully with video

Body work has started! This part sucks, and it in worst shape than I thought. Plan is to have it sprayed over Thanksgiving week.

Damn. You are not messing around. I wish I had that motivation and skill. I'd have three less projects collecting dust:D
