Fond memories of having my first pizza at a Shakeys in Tustin during my youth. Shakeys was the only pizza place for years and after Little League games the whole team would head there.
Then it seemed like I didn't see one for 50 years, until recently I'd noticed a Shakeys sign where a Sizzler had previously closed here in Escondido. Curious to see if it tasted the same, wife and I went and it was like stepping into a time capsule, it tasted the same and so good we returned several times until this COVID crap surfaced.
Place was packed each time, although it's huge inside so didn't feel overcrowded, but got a chuckle seeing several youth sports teams there celebrating, just like old times.
You could order pizzas, or pay for an all you could eat pizza bar and or salad bar, so if they're open now I'm sure that's been eliminated.
