Sold my boat last summer in what I thought was the peak of the market and began looking for a new float. I wanted to go the outboard route, needed a walk through, didn't want to wait over a year and deck boats just aren't my thing. I inquired with a few builders and ended up going with Nordic. I really liked the 28SS but unfortunately it can't be built as a walk through and the later Thor's share the same bottom.

Moving along to rigging.

The Thor normally has a small cockpit with little space between the rear bench and front seats. Nordic moved the rear bench back to open it up more and provide more space.

Awesome can’t wait to see it together. Good choice. How much of a weight savings with the Kevlar layup?

That’s a bad ass build. And as sexy and practical as the wrap around windshield is, i do really like the canopy look. With the utilizing the newer bottom as well the carbon should be a killer set up all around yet still break into the triple digits well.

I know they weighed it, but haven't got the weight from John and Thane. From what I recall the initial estimate was around 5-600lbs. I wanted to help offset the additional weight of it being and open bow walk through.

They're setting it up just like this 28SS and it ran pretty well with the 300R's and regular fiberglass.

I looked at a few used thors years back. Always been a fan.
This is going to look amazing. Is the rear bench pushed back since it has outboards?

Without moving the seat back it's really tight. Here's a pic of one that shows how close it normally is.

Kinda hard to see the real difference with the front seats in this pic, but it's much more open.

Please do and send some pics! Interior should be done next week and hopefully a few other things show up so they can button it up!

That's the plan! I should be taking delivery in the next 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately some steering parts and canopies took a long time which prevented them with moving forward but they should arrive in the next week or so.

Wow that’s like 3-4 people in weight savings. Pretty cool.

For those of us that are uninformed but may buy a boat with 300's some day, what was the change?

Mostly in the mid section, it's the same style as the 450R. The tie bar mount is integrated and the steering and mounts are different too. Merc said the AMS mid section adds ~50lbs but you also get an additional 5" of set back

That thing is beautiful!

Never understood why more manf's wouldn't open up their floor plans when you run O/B's, really make perfect sense.

The new 300 also has the trim pump now incorporated into the mid section so you no longer have to have the trim pump inside the boat.

Comgrats on the new build!

does Nordic do shop walk throughs for window shoppers or do you have to be a paying customer?

Of course, they'll take you for a walk through and show you what they've got going on. They do a lot all in house and I didn't know up until this build that they also have another facility down the street where they have their molds and do lamination.

Pretty sweet! When I saw the first picture of the engines I was thinking "why in the hell did they go with the 25" mids?" Then I saw the picture of the transom area. I didnt realize the Thor deck was so much taller back there. Makes sense after seeing that.

Couple new pics. Adrenaline finished the trailer and the boat is pretty much done other than cosmetic details. Nordic ran it yesterday morning and a quick rip with me this morning. I'm very happy with it and will pick it up early next week.

RIght on! This is cool. We need a performance and ride report!

Thank you! 95mph on the limiters(6400) with 32P MAX5 props. I'm going to run it with those for a little before having them order anything else. They suggested possibly going down a pitch or two since it's a "family boat". I was really impressed with how it ran, the acceleration from ~55 to 80 was really quick!

Very nice ride, congratulations!

Im not seeing how the outboards are attached; are they directly to the transom or on setback brackets?

Enjoy your new float.
