we are now accepting applications for our Laughlin Jan 19-21st ride. This is a couple's ride but not a requirement. The ride is laid back with hotel stays and we typically eat out for breakfast/lunch and dinner. We likely would start in Havasu and offroad to Laughlin and explore from there. this is subject to change based off the route we take for this ride. Details to come in Dec/early Jan.

we are a fun group who like to joke around and have a great time. we are not the group who stops for a beer every five miles. we like to turn it on after the rides and drink/gamble/have fun.

your ride needs to be able to go the distance.

prep is key, you need to prep your ride for these types of trips this includes oils/filters/grease and check ball joints for slop. check wheel bearings, check for cracks in suspension ect...

you need:

GPS (phone works too but must have a good app that works when you have no service)
Radio
Spare tire
spare belt
tools basic hand tools and specialty that your ride needs.
jack
be able to carry gas (some of our stops could be more than the typical range of a SXS)

we typically go 300-500 miles in 3-4 days. for this Laughlin trip I think we will be closer to 400 miles in 3 days. Days can easily be 150+ miles. We are usually on the road about 8 am or so and can finish at night depending on problems and timing. The rides go over varying terrain from Paved roads, graded roads to rock crawl to bushwacking and more your ride will get dirty/muddy/scratched and banged on.

overall, it's a great group of people who live in different places to hang out and share trip memories for lifetimes.

@DLC @LargeOrangeFont @Englewood can add more to this if they like

Can we discuss the beer stop cadence? 😁
Just fake a breakdown Don. We can each take turns so they will not suspect anything. Then you have pee breaks too. 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫

Is this the same group that went Havasu to Stateline a couple years ago? The trip that someone broke a suspension bolt at night, and we lit a campfire, and broke down again in the wash and got lost? If it is, count us in. That was a great time.

Why not Stateline again? 😂

Let’s not relive that night. 😂

I’m sitting on the couch with my IPad and giggling like a little kid. Great times guys, we’re gonna try to clear our calendar so we can make the trip.

Well …. There goes a Private Pocket Invite….. for a select few RDP prospects…..

While this is a great ride and an excellent opportunity to get in with an existing Tight group of SXS folks that does multi day rides.
You need to have your car set up & know how to work on it…

Basically if you wad it up, you need to get your self out, We will help!!
but
you need your own parts, bolts and AAA towing / resources etc etc etc

ball joints
tie rods
belts
rod ends
bushings
nuts/ bolts

and the most important part is knowing your car &
Maintenance

We just got back from a 3 day, 400 mile wife ride!

Only carnage was a flat tire (swapped out w/ spare ) and we plugged another tire - from a railroad spike….

great time & Wife Approved ! !

I will say I’m interested in another Alamo ride and I will offer to ferry everyone’s shit out to Alamo like I did the first couple times. I’ll send a driver with the motorhome and my enclosed empty so you can put whatever ya want in it.

Yeah, we want to do these rides but being mechanically inclined is not what I want, so we never go. Lol

I grew up wrenching on cars with my dad every other weekend and grew to hate it. Hey dad, let’s go catch a baseball game. Dad: We can’t, we need to change the transmission in this work truck so I can run it Monday. I get what he was trying to teach me but it just made me want to pay someone to do all that shit even though I can. 🤷‍♂️

Last time I went we all pitched in for a chase truck/trailer. It was nice knowing that if there was a major breakdown, we could drag it to the nearest roadway and the chase truck/trailer would come and get you. Are we doing that again?

Good question!
I and maybe my wife would like to do this ride, looks like a blast.
We had a place in Needles for 12 years and have ridden most every trail from as far north as searchlight to water road on the 40 to the west, to Topock, and pirates to the south. Would like to see some new stuff out there.

The wife and I would be interested but I'm guessing I might need to be incognito. 🤔

Likely not, because any road we would hit on this trip is less than a 90 min drive to home base. All we need to do would be to get the vehicle in question to an accessible road or area.

That works on some rides, but other rides are just to far apart, Easier to have a truck trailer ready to be mobilized if needed

If I’m not in Atlanta at that time I’d really enjoy being able to tag along on a SxS run like this!
