Never had it before but after this little 5400 Mile drive and today in normal 405 stopped traffic
How did I live without it ?
Set it to minimum distance and it rocks
Now I want to figure out how to install it on my dually 😀

I've got that in my '18 Raptor and as much as there's times when rolling to Havasu on rather lightly loaded highways I appreciate it, there's a flip side that both annoys me and scares me.
The flip side, it's like driving with a 15 year old you've taken out for a driving lesson. It's purely reactive, lacking any ability to "Drive Ahead", it doesn't have a clue what's happening up the road, and isn't aware there's brake lights up ahead, or it's obvious some truck is going to change lanes on top of you.
I've also had three occurrences on I-10 driving to Havasu, when passing a semi-trailer of some odd structural configuration, where there were no cars in the lane ahead, but for some reason some input from the trailer next to me, causes the truck to attempt an immediate panic stop.
Just been lucky there hasn't been anybody directly behind me when it happened, or I'd gotten ass-ended or ended up in a battle of road rage.

I'm going to mention it when I take it in for it's next service, perhaps there's a software update.

Had that happen one late night on the 40 heading to Needles. Talking to the wife as I was driving, had been following the same same big rig for a while, looked down and we were doing 45. Adaptive cruise is cool, other than that.

True and easy to do until you look down and notice it.
I've learned to advise my co-pilot wife when I engage it, else I get some strange looks as to why I'm driving so erratically.

As a general rule, I fucking hate all these ADAS programs because they make it so drivers don't have to pay attention to WTF they're doing. The only modern thing I like is a backup camera.

A lot of the "safety features" cause more problems, which then require additional "safety features" to fix them. Cars only need airbags if you crash them. Most cars now have 20+ airbags. Nice and safe right? Bullshit. You wouldn't need most of them if the A, B, and C pillars weren't oversized and intrusive to visibility so you could actually see where you're turning/going and see oncoming traffic....lots better visibility around a 3" A-pillar than a 10" A-pillar with an airbag in it...which you'll probably need because since you couldn't see the oncoming car because that big ass A-pillar blocked your vision before you pulled into the intersection, you just got T-boned, which wouldn't have happened with a 20 year old car with good visibility and thus would eliminate the requirement for all the fucking airbags.

Oh...also, the car is now totaled since 10 air bags and a seat belt pre-tensioner blew up. The guy who hit you was relying on his lane departure warning and collision avoidance and was too busy talking on the phone and texting to notice you pulling out and slow down, so he hit you going faster than he normally would have, totalling his car too. Now the insurance company needs to pay out $100K+ instead of nothing for accident that wouldn't have happened in the first place...but its "safer". Next you'll be bitching to all your e-buddies on the interweb about the outrageous prices of car insurance.

Bullshit.

I set mine on “near “ otherwise on a curve if there’s a vehicle in the other lane the godamn brakes hit and scares the crap out of you because it thinks it’s in front of you. Happens a lot on the hill between Bullhead and Golden Valley. Rte. 68

Exactly what I was going to say. My buddy was telling me he will get on the phone and not realize how slow he’s going because he’s following some slow driver.

My truck (FORD) has adaptive cruise and Hands free BLUE cruise... fucker drives itself. First time I tried it was going to the river. Turned it on at the windmills and never touched the wheel or any pedals unit desert center. Had it set at 75mph, it has some kind of face recognition because if you look down at all or over at your passenger it will start making alarm noises and the screen says WATCH THE ROAD. Do it too long and it will make all kinds of noise and shut off and you have to take the wheel.

Maybe that's why I'm getting this panic braking when least expected --- I've got the distance set out to far. 🤔 I do that to give me more time to react should it fail to react in a timely manner on it's own. Yes, like riding around with a brand new teen driver, I've got trust issues. 😁

Yup got a camera watching your eyes ---- and transmitting that along with other images and voice data to the NSA for proper scrutinization.

exactly, im convinced this "adaptive / lazy" driver shit is causing more traffic. you set it to what ever distance, there is plenty of room so someone moves in and it readjusts that distance, rinse and repeat and your stuck in traffice doing 52 behind some dipshit in a tesla in the carpool lane.

I did this in a rental car on my last trip to Sacramento. Was so stoked on the adaptive cruise and it's ability to stay in the lane, I followed a minivan waaaaaay longer than I should have 🤣

100%,

One fucktard is driving 52mph. The Tesla behind him is following exactly 22.7 meters behind on autopilot. The car behind the tesla is just an idiot looking 2 feet in front of himself and not paying attention. He's riding the tesla's ass, stomping on the brakes every time the tesla slows on autopilot. The car in the lane next to the tesla is also going 52mph....only because he thinks there is a reason everyone is going so slow and there might be danger somewhere ahead he doesn't see.

Somewhere behind this fuckery......is a man trying to get to work

If everyone relied on all these gadgets to drive we'd end up with all kinds of accidents, the exception maybe being if all cars were equipped equally. Obviously with just reading a few posts in this thread the systems are flawed.
.
Me, I prefer to drive my car and actually pay attention....but hey, that's just me.

I never cared for the automation past standard cruise control. what if I want to run someone over or hit another vehicle? think of the recent 'peaceful riots' and how just moving a few out of the way might have gotten you out safely. and the. there is the possibilty of it being hacked or.....

A tip….I didn’t need to do it myself because it seems to work the way it did before but if you get your windshield replaced you may have to get the rear view mirror forward sensor calibrated.

The heated steering wheel is a nice touch although it’s not needed too much around here.

Yup heat are very nice in the winter, especially because they heat up so fast. We also really appreciate the ventilated seats in summer.
I didn't even realize I had a heated steering wheel until I read about it on the net, before that I had no idea what that silly icon meant, since unlike the other controls, it was displayed on my sync page. 🤔

My wifes yukon adaptive cruise will literally slam on the breaks instead of slowing down for a slower vehicle, It's really annoying. Also will ding at you if you hold foot on the gas pedal too long.

I miss my old car…1978 oldsmobile 98 luxury sedan…like this except dark blue..very fast for its size…back home I had done what a coworker had done with his mechanic…took out converter and popped the gas inlet pipe to run leaded gas…loved that car…moved here and got hit head on by a drunk driver in Golden Valley…I should go look for the pics..12/30/83…we decided to go to the river to avoid the drunks on New Year’s Eve but that didn’t work out so well 😀
it had ‘regular’ cruise…all we needed.
The fool hit so hard my battery was hanging over the fender by one cable..I hit my head on the windshield and bent the steering wheel…the girlfriend had a broken arm.

The emergency braking feature is annoying too. Randomly will jab on the brakes and flash a warning on the windshield at a bump in the road

I actually like standard cruise better. i Never want to pace off other vehicles. Also, it seems to have too many distractions like others have stated.

Yup, I hate it for this very reason. Had it on my Escalade and the dealer was somehow able to deactivate it. Have it on my Lexus and the dealer told me there’s no way to deactivate it.

Just bought a Ford Edge as my new commuter. They listed adaptive cruise control as one of the features. They were either wrong or it somehow got disabled because it’s not working and I’m very happy about that.

Have the adaptive cruise in the Benz. Also has a great feature that tracks eyes so if I try to get distracted on tiktok it starts beeping at me and shuts off. So for those “omg you’re not paying attention” boomers out there, doesn’t really work like that.

My wife’s Jaguar does the same shit, and if you’ve been driving a long time it beeps a few times, the steering wheel shakes and then a cup of coffee pops up on the instrument cluster and says “you should take a break” 🤣🤣

On my Ford Raptor, it's easily switched off in the menu where you can select between adaptive and regular CC. I'm going to switch it back to normal CC until I can chat with my service advisor. Although I did use it returning from Havasu the other day and it didn't act up once.

Semis will do that for overpasses with big signs or if your in a left hand curve and a big sign on the right side of road.

Is this related to sudden decelerating and or braking without apparent cause ?
If so, one such sudden braking incident did occur during a gradual bend in the freeway, while I was passing a semi. I assumed it was fooled into thinking the semi was moving into my lane.
The other two times were when passing uniquely constructed trailers. One was extremely reflective with some appendages extending underneath. The other was a very strange looking trailer with a sign on the back stating metal recyclers. Again, the undercarriage design was unique. That time I wasn't totally caught off guard, in fact as I closed and saw the nature of the trailer I recall wondering if it might trigger an event, and I was right, it did.
Never experienced an issue with the types of trailers normally encountered. Until I see if this is something that can be resolved with an update, I'll just cancel it at times I suspect might trigger an event.
My son has not experienced anything similar in his '23 F250 and he uses it frequently.

Mine's certainly tried --- but each time screaming "WTF", smashing my right foot hard on the go pedal while hitting the cancel button overrode the dumb-ass sum-bitch.
Have you pursued this with a service dept ? Mine's still covered by a Ford ESP, so I'll be getting it addressed soon. I'm hoping they're familiar with the problem, otherwise I'm sure I'll get the infamous blank stare, along with "Oh, never heard that before", followed up with "Can Not Duplicate" 🤬

The thing I like about adaptive cruise the most is it keeps me from speeding. That seems to be relaxing not worrying about your speed so much and not worrying about keeping your distance from the car in front of you when traveling slower than you. Another time it’s really nice is in stop and go traffic, when you don’t have to worry about taking your eyes off the guy in front of you and plowing into the back of them.

I never thought I needed Adaptive CC but it came standard with the 2023 Honda Accord I bought last year. After using it on the drive to & from work thru bumper to bumper traffic for over an hour each way I would never buy another vehicle without it.........period! It also make the drive to Havasu so much easier. I don't have to worry about going under a Semi Truck doing 45mph in the fast lane.
