Anyone know much about them?
This is supposedly from 1948. It’s in great condition too.

Being as it's one of the few remaining physical magazines, I bet it's worth something. Quiet a few collectors too. My grandpa has stacks and stacks of them in his garage. I think I went as far back as early 50's when I was looking through them briefly.

They reproduced #1, there is something that gives it way I can't remember off the top. A friend sold a nice og copy on ebay for about $1000 a few years back.
I'll look real close at the pix and try to remember how to tell a repop.

I can't remember, look on all the pages for something like "this is a reprint" or words to that effect. Paper and printing look too new.

I have boxes and boxes of old Hot Rod magazines. Starting in '48 up to the '70's, as I recall. I gave away the '80's forward as I just didn't need 'em. I don't need what I have kept either and when I get a chance I'll check the first two years and see what's missing then start getting rid of 'em.

Here is the only box I have here in Parker. Why I brought it here I haven't a clue. The others are in the basement at home.

I have every Hot Rod mag too from the beginning until about '90.

@Magic Mike is right about the reprints, I have a set of those too, they reprinted the first 12 issues. Yours look very nice to be originals, could be though if someone never read them. My repos don't look that nice but I re-read them from time to time.

Thanks for the replies. My next door neighbor got it from his wife’s uncles estate.
I told him I knew where to get some insight regarding it. 😁

If they are originals, they might be worth more than you think. These have been listed all summer on the HAMB, not mine, just takes one collector to buy.

I have Hot Rod from about 1974 through now. Missing perhaps 10 total.
Car Craft from the late 70's through whenever the last issue arrives.
The first time I subscribed to HRM it was with $ I earned on my own. I remember distinctly my first on the books paycheck was $14.74.
I spent $3.75 to get a 2 yr. sub to Hot Rod.

I am giving the entire collection to a young man whom we call "our third son" before we move. He was a schoolmate of our younger boy, and his Dad died when he was about 7. I happened to be on duty the night he passed, and I took the coroners case. Motorcycle accident. Had to go tell his mother while she had the three little kids in another room.
We have been close since.

I grabbed a couple boxes from the basement last week. I need to figure out what I'm going to do with all the crap I've collected over the years. 🤔

July '64 I know I have and I should have others if not all from that year.

A friends car made the cover in the July issue along with one of the '54 issues.

I believe I gave all the mid 70's and up away when I was getting rid of my FE's. I placed a couple of boxes in the crate when I shipped a 428 sjc back to Detroit. The others got passed along as engines were picked up.
