Barris's Hirohata Merc does it for me too! Many other great examples but that's THE car that comes to mind when I think Merc.

What a coincidence. I got to do some lead work today, at work ImageUploadedByTapatalk1406337770.479995.jpg and this is my 51, I've been holding off on chopping it for 9 years. I am finally gonna bit the bullet and hammer it down. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1406337852.887083.jpg

Looks like a new quarter panel on that mustang. Here are a couple shoebox fords for you. My first custom was a 49 ford 2 door sedan.

Yeah, two new quarters and the owner specifically requested the seams to be leaded. Its cool because not many customers are willing to pay for they labor involved with doing lead work. Which means I don't get to do it very often?.. As far as the shoeboxes go, mines going to get a 3/5 chop.Ans it is also going back to blue(original color) like the one you posted. Its funny I have no problem cutting into a customers car, but I'm having a hard time cutting into my own. lol

TV show that featured a car for the heroes. (step back Barris) My dad designed and built this car over a number of years at home. It is the first car on record to have a working 'hardtop convertible', he had the original US patent for power 'hardtop convertibles. Dad won 'Best Engineering Award' 1952 Motorama at the Pan Pacific Auditorium in LA. (1952) He fought in court against Ford Motor Co for over 3 years when the "Skyliners" came out into production. This car is all metal, steel body, (lead) aluminum roof and deck lid. The chassis is a 1942 Olds that my dad bought 'burned out' for $30.00, it was towed home. For you 'old guys' the TV show was Captain Midnight and later re-named Jet Jackson, with Ovalteen as the sponsors. (Secret Squadron) This photo is on the set at 'Columbia Ranch', still in Burbank Calif. edit; S o r r y the photo is crashing. Dad passed away at 95, this is one of a number of last items he gave to me before he died. He was signing photos for so many people that (owned cars he built) he just signed one 'to his son'.
