River Lodge.

These were sent from another family friend. Her dad, Bobby, passed away a few years ago and he's the one in the pics and theyowned 'Chicken of the Sea' and the silver flake and black '65 Tahiti. Almost all the friends that grew up with my parents are gone, kinda bitter sweet seeing this pics and thinking of them too.

Brand new Weiman and a new Regatta on the right, can't remember the v-drive.

Don't think the hydro was with our friends group. Tahiti in the water on the left, cool flat bottom outboard on the beach.

Only posted the camp sites pics because I can remember when a water fight would break out tripping over or stubbing a toe on the tent stakes and lies that were everywhere.

Brand new Regatta on the left, Tahiti on the right.

I'd love to find one of those Weiman Marine Racing Team t-shirts. Sylvester the cat on what looks like a raft with an outboard.

Love these old River Lodge Pics. My dad was across the way at Castle Rock during these years. We didn't move across to river lodge until Mid to late 70s when I was around 8.

Pretty awesome to see all of the old photos!

I feel like they need to make a movie about Parker, there is a ton of history there!

At 5:28 the precursor to the water cannon makes an appearance! Wonder if she would’ve came on her after and bitched about getting soaked?

But seriously some really cool pictures and videos being shared!

Lol!

The difference is, my dad knew he wasn't getting an ipod dock or cel phone wet while spraying my aunt Lynn and they obviously knew each other. :p

The drunk retards spraying strangers in the channel are just complete idiots with zero respect. Sign of the times.

I’ve said before in the 70s if someone sprayed my blown hydro that would have been fighting words not ending well.

Lol if you took that through the channel rocking all your race gear I’d 100% guarantee you’d get sprayed.

It would probably end about as good as it did for the guy in the houseboat in the video everyone has seen.

In the 70s channel was empty anyway.
It was uncrowded in the 80’s too! Possibly early 90’s also.

There was a time in which you could speed all the way up to the entrance of the channel too. Before they made the entire area a no wake zone. Geez, I remember when you could water ski right off the beach at Nautical Inn.

There was NO buoys up the river to Needles, let alone a no wake zone.

When they first put the no wake buoys in front of Bluewater Casino area in approx 2000, we all carried half inch sockets, so we could set the buoys free in the middle of night. I can’t count the number of times I showed up at the river on Friday with buoys, and left Sunday with no buoys. But you can all see how well that eventually worked out.

I hate to be the harbinger of future events, but based on what I have seen in Florida, it’s only a matter of time before both Parker and Havasu become regulated speed zones. You guys have already witnessed the slow encroachment of signs and buoys over the last 22 years. It will only get worse.

Made me chuckle a little remembering when we use to ski through the gorge. Fun times

My Dad launching the Hondo on Parker. Early 1970's is my best guess.

Parker in the early 1970's.

Woman in the deck was my Grandma May, she was an absolute amazing skier. One trip she attempted to roost the shoreline, caught the sand, tumbled up on the beach and broke her neck. A few weeks later she was back behind the Hondo sking with her neck brace.

My younger sister in the Hondo @ Echo Lodge early 1980's.

I disagree. Drunk yuppies will spray the weakest looking poeple. A dude crazy enough to own a blown hydro won't likely take shit and they know it. Not much different than spraying down a biker gang, not gonna happen.

Last time I saw him was 2008 when Billy took me to the NADA Garage to shoot some pics.

This pic is a few years before that. He and Damon brought this Glaspar to one of our v-drive vacations in needles. :)

That is one of the coolest places I have ever been to! Went there with my buddy/brother before a hotrod show at the OC fairgrounds. My jaw hit the floor when I walked in to fetch some beers.

We were just going through a bunch of my grandparents stuff the other day and came across a BUNCH of old river pictures back when they had their first boat, I think it was a Thompson? Then their wood deck Gausti flat bottom that my grandpa raced from time to time as well. I did get a picture of one of those races, but this was at King's River, not Parker.

Always park going against current is proper way to dock a boat unless your a channel rat and have no clue.

Apparently everyone at foxes faces their boat down stream. Apparently its the "current." I had it parked against current cause i usually head to foxes after pirates.

haha i've always heard there is some kinda feature near foxes that disrupts the current there and thats why people do it.

I'd park against the current. Not sure why anyone would or should give a crap which way you parked it. Courtesy no longer exists unfortunately.

I really believe the picture was taken at Lake Ming.
First ever organized dragboat race took place down river at Hart Park, then they moved it to Lake Ming.
Lower shot is the widest angle picture I have showing the shoreline.
That’s me in 1975 making a pass in the 95-100 class in the family ski boat. I was 15😂

Our first vdrive…1967…Glen L with a 390 Caddy.
Big Bend and day camping at the beach that would become Buckskin. Note…no Echo Lodge camping across the river yet!

I was 7 then..,still love it.

1973 at Havasu Springs(I’m holding the boat). Every trip we would go up to Havasu Springs early one morning with a few boats, ski to the Nautical Inn for breakfast and ski back, then ski on the lake till the wind came up.
My uncle had Spaces numbers 1 and 2 up there. Cousins still have them!

1969 to 1971.
We had an all wood Litchfield Flatbottom that was raced as an Unblown Fueler.
Dad was a Highway Patrolman and got a 440 Chrysler out of a wrecked patrol car with a 1000 miles on it and put it in the boat.
Boat was the Blue Devil as a raceboat, we repainted it white in 1970. Ran in the 75-80 class and won a few trophies. Great boat. Both pictures taken at Castle Rock
