Which brings us to this morning. I chartered a boat to go fishing..

Apparently god didn’t want us to miss it because we had a fire in our hotel at exactly 5:30 am.

Now the fucker of that is once we left the rooms we couldn’t get back in.. lol. So no shower or brushing of teeth.

We went to Safeway and bought beer and sandwiches

Did you notice how insanely rough the water gets at the south end of the island? I always trip out. And it's ALWAYS like that. BIG OPEN Pacific in the middle of no where!!

My favorite island by far!!! You have to do On the rocks just a little way down the road from you guys and Huggo's, great food and vibe. I wish I would have known you were going I still have tons of family friends there! There is a great (used to be, I assume still?) coffee shop with great local food in the bowling alley just up the hill from you guys... So many great beaches! Have a great time!

Worst fish I have ever had is marlin. Did it die during the fight? It is standard practice to catch and release bill fish. Not judging, just curious.
vs “filet and release” for mahi, tuna, and just about every other palegic.

I think they kill everything they catch in hawaii cause the boat sells it to subsidize their income. Most charters tell you they keep the fish I have tipped them and they give me some for the BBQ back at the condo.

We are chilling on the pier watching bait fish and locals trying to catch larger fish right now.

Very peaceful place.. wish I had a boat I’d go cruise the ocean right now.

Not even close...especially on the block in hawaii. Other than smoking it its not really good. When its caught that day it can be good for sashimi but you kinda have to have a taste for it.

Who hooked it? Grey's taxidermy does some cool tail/fin mounts...if you know someone over there have them stick the bill/tail on the fence so it dries out over a couple months then send it to you. Gotta let the inside rot out lol. Based on the size and color its a male and thats a pretty average size for them over there. The females are the big big ones.

This was the last one we caught a couple years ago. Me, my BIL, and two of the managers/bartenders from Duke's in Waikiki. Only bite we had all day off the Waianae coast. The bill was split and still had an old hook lodged in it and had grown around it...hook had been there a while. This one sits over my sisters kitchen table now lol. They are a fun fish to fight for sure, super lucky to catch one especially if its your first time..

Cost of fishing is very high in hawaii on the vendors, fuel, slip fees, state permits etc. Pretty much everything caught goes to the block with few exceptions. My uncle owned a boat at Kewalo basin for 30 years, covid knocked a lot of companies out for good.

Seeing that turtle reminded me, head over to honokuaho state beach. It’s a turtle breeding little harbor you can snorkel and stand and swim with turtles hanging out all over.

Right behind the small boat harbor (most likely where you boated out of) About 5 miles from your hotel. Place is super chill. Not many people know about it. Bitchen beach. Nice area to just chill and lay down and have some beers. Swim etc.

Today we are just gonna relax on the beach and in the pool.. we have been all over this island and I feel like I have spent most of my time in the back of an Escalade..

We stopped at this bridge to take a picture of this waterfall. There was a path right where we stopped that I though led to a place
To take a picture.. we walked up the hill a little bit and through some brush and popped out in this Japanese cemetery.

The newest grave was marked 1910-1954. The rest of the headstones looked extremely old.

It was a very beautiful place and the sense of peace and culture was indescribable.

There was some Chickens and roosters running around. This particular rooster was giving me the eye as soon as I came on the scene. He was following me around.. well I’m not sure what his deal with

me was but that ended with me having to throw rocks at it as I hobbling very quickly to the car..

Stacy and Tyler went to see the Lava last night.. it was a mile walk each way so I passed on that with the foot.. which pretty much catches us up to this morning
