I can tell you from personal experience, shortening a finger below the knuckle is not precision stuff...picture, if you will, stainless pruning shears from the orchard

It may be medicine, but some stuff is still medieval as hell!

I suggested something similar when my mother in law had her leg amputated. My thought was, mom gets the big toe and my wife and her 3 sisters each get a toe. Make them into pendants, I even offered to buy the chains.
