Had her running on muffs for about 5 min before the gear lube change. While the lube was draining I noticed that it was kind of foamy/ small little bubbles kind of. After 15 min or so, while the lube settled in the draining pan it looked normal, bubbles/foam disappeared. Is that normal? Or i have a leak somewhere and it needs to be tested.
Thanks

What oil brand do you typically use? Normal color too?

Looks like aeration/foaming to me but hard to tell in my phone. Gear oil in vehicles does the same thing and nothing to worry about.

Water settles to the bottom if thats the case, so look for that. I never run them before changing since the lower gears only move if the drive is in gear, i also like them dry to change so you cant blame water on whatever drips out of the drive pickups.

If it was a car I'd say you have a blown head gasket.

That definitely appears to be water on the oil. As was mentioned above, water will eventually settle to the bottom. Maybe place that oil in a clear container and see if there is any separation of two different liquids visible after letting it sit for a day or so?

If you can confirm water in there, you might pull the lower and take a look at the oil passage seal. Since you only had it running on the muffs, it is possible that the water pressure pushed by it and got some into the oil.

Pour it in an empty glass jar and you'll know in a few minutes if it's emulsified oil/water.
