This last weekend The third annual Outlaw Nationals did not take place this at the World Famous Sundance Saloon. This year it wasn't a two day event with a Show and Shine on Friday Evening, and Exhibitions Saturday morning from 8:30-1:00 pm.
It was only two years ago that a group of guys got together at Fox's and decided to run a couple of boats. Honestly not that much different than what happens every time Tony is in town right around Sunset. Only difference that year was they were going to bring a few more boats. That year Fox's was so packed that the dock was underwater and there was standing room only along the shoreline.
The following year the guys decided to move it to Sundance for a variety of reasons, but the main one being that the venue would be better suited to what wasn't going on. I'll never forget that year because it was the coldest Thanksgiving at the river that I can remember. I got there early, and thought to myself nobody is going to brave this weather to come out to the bar. Less than an hour later it was standing room only when the first boat made its pass.
This year was no different (except the weather was perfect!) and thousands of people piled into Sundance, packing all three levels of the bar all looking to get the best view of their favorite boats run. For this one weekend a year (in winter no less!) the Sundance Saloon was reminiscent of it's glory days.
Because this is a "Non Event / Event" I went down "unofficially" armed with my mighty I phone and did my best not to cover it. Even the security guard made some off color comment that if I was going to get out on the point to get the good shots, I should probably bring something more "professional" than a phone. (To put his mind at ease, I'll bring the whole crew next year for drinks, and if they happen to get some content of a boat going by, we'll put it together)
Stick with this thread as we will go through all the photo's and videos of every boat running, in order to give you the Best "Non Coverage of this Non Event."
Here is the First of Several Videos to Come!!
Note Parts 2 & 3 will be added in this first post!
