Picked up my new Tremec Magnum-F Body close ratio 6 speed today!

This thing shifts like butter just sitting dry in the box!

If anyone needs a built GM T56 for their swap project, let me know! Mine is for sale!

What did you have in the car already?

I want something LS swapped bad.

It has a standard T56 6 speed that is built, so basically a 25+year old design with a few upgrades for durability.

This has the modern TR6060 6 speed innards, better synchros, larger gears, shifts smoother, needs no upgrades. It is basically the transmission out of a new Camaro ZL1. These are rated to 700 HP.

I really didn’t “need” this, but this is a brand new product and is a “drop in” replacement. The previous Magnum versions needed fab work and goofy shifters to work in my car.

This trans has a shorter 5th and 6th gear which is what I have always wanted for the car. Gears 1-4 are the same.

Would like to know what company you bought it from or directly from Tremec? Have a 67 Chevelle, getting ready to swap the A/T for manual.

I remember when the the t-56 was Tha bomb. Overtaking the M-22 rock crusher and with dual overdrive.
Wish I had a project for it.
Any clutch upgrades.. Because there will be more shifting involved now. :D
Really dig the new paint and the pic of you and your Pops on the track. I would give damn near anything to have a moment like that. Congrats.

No, I have a friend that is a distributor for Tremec out of Nor Cal. After this first batch, they won’t have any more for a few months.

Thank you for for kind words. The clutch in it should be OK. It is nothing fancy, a Spec Stage 3 (6 puck) with aluminum flywheel.

I will put a fresh throw out bearing in for good measure though. I need to swap the yoke on the driveshaft for a 31 spline unit, and that should be it. I may use the current shifter I have in the car. I need to see what the deal is with the red one that came with the trans. It has a vibration isolator/damper in it supposedly.

You'll love the three finger smooth shifting.:) The T-56 in my 99 Viper is harder to shift than a Muncie rock crusher. If I ever develop mechanical issues with the tranny in my car, I'll definitely swap it out to a 6060.
Had to make a new adapter years ago, due to heavy action.

Wow! But I can’t say I’m surprised.

I had one of these (TR6060) in my CTS-V, so I know it will be a big improvement in feel.

Please do! Chevelle has 373 gears & 383 stroker, looking at TKO 600. Have been researching American Powertrain, they claim they shave down the casing for less or no cutting of the tunnel. Looking for good advice. I live in Sacramento area.

Thanks!

Pm’ed you. TKO 600 is nice, but the extra overdrive in the Magnum is really nice for cruising. You will want the close ratio in either the standard Magnum case or this one. You might need a special bellhousing to get it to work, as these are set up for an LS.. I don’t know what is needed for an LT/SBC because they are so new. It is supposed to be minimal changes.
