Pirates Den Hotboat Show!

Had a great time on saturday at the Hotboat show over at Pirates Den. A lot of the usuals were there, some of them have been completely gone through, and there was a few newcomers as well!!

Pick of the show for me was Jody and Lotka’s Barn find! Completely restored and absolutely stunning!

I don’t remember who I was talking to about this boat but they were arguing it’s a Dimarco and I was saying it was a Canyon. Lol. The owners name isn’t a billy and I met him years ago down at the lower sandbar in Parker.

He’s selling it and looking for a Hallett 240. Beautiful boat and worth every penny of 35k!

This Howard looked longer and narrower than any shovel nose I have ever seen.. ?? Not sure if this was some rare deal or if that’s the way they built them?

This boat just had a complete overhaul. The owner polished all the hardware himself because he wasn’t happy with the results he gets back from the shops.. lol. It was mirror finish on all the parts!

This Wandered down to the marina to say hello to an old friend. For those that don’t know this was BB572’s old boat. Danny is who my son is named after. He sold it and took the blower motor out and sold that to Greg Fuller.. both have passed since then. RIP

This is the original 21 Schiada and the precursor the the 21 RC’s that are still being built today! Not part of the show but cool none the less.

Most older Raysons, Howards etc. had them. A splash rail, kept water from coming in the boat. GN's used them stayed dryer in the turns.

I didn't notice a left cav pedal, or tee handle on either the Canyon or Connelly, are those plates electrically controlled ?
That Canyon is a screaming deal, assuming the engine & trans are sound.

I was there, pretty cool showing.
Ran into an old muscle car, flat bottom buddy I hadn't seen in over 30 years. Turns out his wife manages Pirate's Den LOL.
The do-it-yourself polishing guys boat is a syndicate, nice piece.
The sohc powered flat gets my vote for best motor. Most people probably did not notice it is on nitrous.
Was a great weekend, I was surprised how many people were on the River.
Friday night dock at Fox's was all blown schiada, Spectre, Howard, DCB s. It was like the old days!
Mad props to the guy in the outboard with the first ski run Saturday morning. The sky was barely starting to show light!

nice pics!....regarding Marion Beaver, remember him well...those were the days, sitting on top of the hill by Cienega Springs and hearing the roar of the first lap heading our way from Bluewater and Marion usually leading the pack!

I think they do, but don’t know for sure. It was windy as hell some almost no flats went out. I heard some did early in the morning.

I ran mine that day. And I run it often out of Pirates Den. Local law enforcement has been very very cool to us in regards to noise.
