Do any of the boating guru's here know who currently has or is building the Predator Hulls? It is a California Performance hull.

According to the threads, Neil at SDPM built them under the Predator brand and then sold the molds. Jason Rouse ended up with the mold and I believe he ended up selling it to Bill at California Performance.

Hey Scott,

Bill Scotten has the molds for both the Rouse and California Performance. He is a very good friend of mine, let me know if you need his contact information. :)

Cheers!

Build one!
My first ride on the strip was in a CP with a dual quad Olds. Always thought that would be a fun hull. There used to be a guy with a metallic brown CP style up by Needles...blown hemi.

Outstanding! I would love to get his contact info. Hopefully he won't charge me an arm/leg for a 19 footer. Please PM me the info. Many thanks.

I almost bought one before I ordered a new Ultra 21. I love the Stealth. But I should have bought the CP.

Not to hi-jack, but waaaaaay back in 82-83 Tommy Papp and I built an 18' Winger that was an Earl Smith boat out of Texas. I believe most if not all Wingers came from this early design. It was a quick little SOB and we ran at several of the campsites near the I10 out of Blythe. Some of you old timers from Water Wheel and McIntyre might remember it. Lil Tuffy, Blue with about 5 miles of pinstripes. Damn I wish I would have kept that boat but our first house won out over that money pit.
Thanks for letting me rehash "The Good Old Days"

A lot of us lost our first boats to houses. I heard different opinions about the 18' vs the 19'? Is there that much difference? Which is the preferred and why? If this is a thread jack I'll start another one.

Paging @white tortilla ........

18 is a better race boat and the 19 is a better riding river boat.

The one that has a “dangerous” reputation is the 18 Tunnel hull bottom. It’s has been known to make quick turns and pitch a few people. That is why you see the sponsons extended in the front. But a very fast hull.

The 18’ gullwing is a quick boat and good for racing. This is the one with the straight sides. The 19’ sides angle in a bit. The decks have a little variance between them as well.

There’s a 19’ that runs 5.56 to 1000’ at NJBA..... I once saw an 18’ win the 8 second 1/4 mile class there too...

The CP hulls are bad ass 👍

Yes, mine was a straight 18' gullwing. When we built mine I don't think the "Texas Tunnel" had been thought of yet and indeed, it was a wicked ride when not going straight. From what I remember the 19' was just over a foot longer and 6" wider than the 18' but that extra width seemed like 2'. Mine was a little tight with cocktail seating and me being a 280 LB'er. All in all it showed it's backside to most all other boats on that part of the river from a 20mph start. As said earlier, it was a VERY quick SOB. Tommy worked his magic on it for a long time, he was a wizard on jet boats.

Were you the guy that used to come up to Big River and run Kenny in that orange boat in the evenings?...was probably late ‘80s.

Here’s a shot of the 18 ft . Straight sides . The Gullwings are known for being quick hulls for racing . They ride great on the river also .This one has a all aluminum engine and rides over wakes nicely .

There's is no style at all to those hulls! They are so just square. Really are quite ugly, IMO. But they are fast!

Not me but used to go play with the guys at Lost Lake. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose. I didn't have the funds to go the puffer way towards the end of ownership of Tuffy and got picked on a lot. Them blower jetboats started getting fast and just not quick!! :)

They weren't made to look impressive, they were made to haul ass and that they did and still do. Pack a little air under them wings and hold on, shit's about to get real!!!!

I think they are nicest and best looking jet boats on the river. Plus they would spank any Sanger bubble deck jet , from hear to kingdom come. With less Hp. :p

I can't imagine that boat would respond well to additional weight in the bow. In my opinion, it almost defeats the purpose of the original design. That boat was designed to be light and efficient.......not a water taxi.

I'd argue and say the TPR 19 is the best looking hull in that size range. 👍😉

Yours looks good. 😉 I've always been a fan of the TPR hull and would LOVE to have one with a 2.5 strapped on the transom. I just dont have time and money for another project right now. Maybe some day! 😜
