Damn, that looked good.

20 hour brine (Traeger Orange brine kit) with 2 cups of makers mark added)
Rinse with refrigerated water, full canola butter rub, with stick of butter stuffed under skin, bird stuffed with apples, oranges and lemons, full rub with Traeger turkey rub and beer can chicken rub.
Smoked 3 hours to 110* internal.
Then cooked tented at 350* till 162* internal.
Pulling it in a few minutes

taste-o-meter waitin on ya! looks good...........

It's cooking like this I like to do when we go camping......... we already do a deep fry turkey... prior to the turkey hitting the oil I do some beer
batter shrimp as appetizers for the cook (me) and anyone else wanting some. I like to bring plates of shrimp to our camp neighbors with cocktail sauce ready to go... (this usually only if they're cool, and they're prepping their dinner too) the looks on most of their faces are priceless
for the "OMG you didn't have to do that!" just being a good camp neighbor..!

the smoked turkey would drive most camp neighbors nuts smelling it during smoking!

Gentlemen,

Most of you know I’ve been on here a long time. I’ve certainly posted my share of bull shit and then some.
I’m telling you right now...throw away whatever turkey recipes you may have.
They do not come close.
The juice is over an inch deep in the pan.
When I cut into the breast I had to change shirts from the juice spraying.
Ive cooked and smoked dozens of turkeys in my 58 years...NONE tasted this good.
Seriously, no bullshit.

I’m cutting it with a fork.

C’mon over.
front door is unlocked.
I can’t move.
Wish I’d have seen this earlier, I’ve been stuffing myself with leftovers all day I’ve got a serious case of the bloat. It sure looks mouthwatering though.😋

What temp did you set the smoker at? I did one also on my treager. Came out real good just not much smoke flavor. View attachment 955606

I did 180* for 3 hours, but time wasn’t the deal, my goal was 110* internal at that setting. Mine runs around 200* on that 180* setting.
Then I turned it up to 350* for about 2 hours until it hit exactly 165* internal.

When I’ve smoked them before I was rushed and had to jack them early because people were waiting.
Today I was in zero concern for time, and had no other side dishes to coordinate.

mine doesn’t have a super smoke setting, but it’ll smoke pretty good on 180*.

I don’t know if I’d let it go longer than a few hours on low being poultry and all.

Im not a fan of the set and forget either.

Its so much easier than old school methods.. I love my Treager. No more getting up at 4 am and reloading coals etc

no more giant pans of sand to stabilize temps. No more refilling water pans as well.. just turn the knob and wait for the phone to let ya know. Lol

Yes it is more work but doing it for years on barrel smoker you eventually dial it in.I make it a day thing and grab extra beers.Figure an add of charcoal every 4 hrs good to go.Just better hope you dont get a power outage when your waiting for that phone reminder LOL.
