I filed a claim in june due to an underwater issue. Progressive will not pay out . I urge all of you to beware. It has become increasingly known (in the boating world) that they do not pay out on any claim whatsoever regarding watercraft. Just Sayin!...:thumbsdown

I have had them for like (5) years now I think, but good news being that I have never had a claim. I think the straight forward fire or theft claims get paid pretty quickly I would imagine, but what you are describing sounds a bit more challenging. The basic premise of the coverage is for Bodily Injury/Property Damage caused and Physical Damage sustained to the boat. You might want to contact the Insurance Commissioner in your state for guidance and/or to file a complaint. I am in the insurance business and hate to hear or see legitimate claims either delayed or not paid for whatever reason(s)...

It's not just on boats.. Their standard policy it would seem is to deny everything, on cars, boats, etc..

Stacy had to sue them to get them to pay a claim she had when she was younger.

I have to get my head examined because they insure my Schiada right now.. I'm going to change that When I get an opportunity.

ukxpat contacted the CA Insurance Commission about his case. They told him that their funding is from the insurance companies and they really couldn't do anything to help him. Seriously.

You can always request an independent marine surveyor to look at your claim. (for free) Colorado River Appraisal are out of Havasu and they work thruout the river area. 928 6808601

Fuck Progressive! They live up to their name...

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/a/aclu-lewis.htm

This is a heads up regarding Progressive Auto Insurance. You know who they are. They're the ones with the clever television ads featuring the perky brunette actress, Flo, all dressed in white. What you might not know is that the chairman of Progressive is Peter Lewis, one of the largest funders of the left in America .. He's your typical rich spoiled kid who took over the company from his father and apparently feels guilty for his success and now dedicates himself to making It impossible for anyone else to become wealthy.

Between 2001 and 2003, Lewis funneled $15 million to the ACLU, the group most responsible for destroying what's left of America's Judeo-Christian heritage. Indeed, Lewis is himself an ACLU member. One of the ACLU projects he earmarked his funds for was an effort to sue school districts who have drug testing policies. In other words, this idiot wants teachers to be able to use drugs without fear of exposure. I wonder what he would think if all his own employees came to work drugged out every day..

Lewis also gave $12.5 million to MoveOn.org and American Coming Together, two key components of the socialist
left.

I have progressive on the boat only, and only because AAA wouldn't insure the boat.
So far, no claims, no issues. Now I'm re-thinking staying with them.

I was by Tige' watersports the other day and they said most the insurance companies are very hard to deal with now.

Tige' has a HUGE fantastic glass and gell repair shop and they see all kinds of damage roll in of just about every make of boat out there.

What was usually totaled at 40 or 50% damage, today has be flirting with 80% damaged.
Seriously,,, it's really gone that far. I got some example of some crazy shit the insurance companies were pulling.

AAA boat insurance is the way to roll now.

Progressive is bad business.

We used Progressive when I first bought our motor home some 10 years ago. We had a blow-out (a bunch of drama) on highway 8 at about 1:00 am going to glamis. We had their roadside service but they refused to come out because I could not give them a mile marker. They wanted me to walk down the fucking hwy at now 2:00 am and find one and then wait there until morning. Fuck No. Keep in mind how cell phones used to be back then making call after call when dropped.

So I hack sawed, used ratchet straps, and a big hammer to free the carcus and limped down the 8. Then a whole ton of fucking drama with an attempted car jacking by a bunch of border runners at now 3:30 am. 911...nobody to help and that is exactly what we were told. Yep, they tried to force their way into a mortorhome with a blown inside dual tire limping down the road at 1.5 mph. My yellow lab is owed a debt of gratitude. She turned watchdog...god bless her.

Anyway to shorten the story when the claim guy in the Progressive car shows up at my business some weeks later to quote the damage (This is how they work) he said...Not your fault...Firestone tire failure. We will fix your coach, no problem, no deductible applies here, we will handle everything with Firestone. He took the tire and peeled tread (still on the rim holding air) and left. We had 6k miles on the motorhome. It was new. Heard nothing for months. They bought us another rim and tire and was included when we picked up the coach...all lookin purdy. :thumbsup

Well, we were happy and felt like they went over and beyond easing the drama of that night's bullshit. Drama over right? Wrong.

About 6 months after all is said and done we get a cert letter saying they are demanding our $1000 deductible and $475 for the tire and rim. They are filing with the state as my fault and I was assessed a point on my record, (I was) and then they Tripled my rates from $470 something a year to $1200 something when the policy renewed.

So there is my story about those ass wipes. Don't do it, you will be full of regret if something happens.

If an insurance company doesn't pay legitimate claims and doesn't provide customer service then all it's good for is to enable its customers to prove they have insurance to the police.

If you're going to pay for insurance pay it to a company that actually PROVIDES insurance! Saving some money isn't worth any of this progressive shit.

I spent a number of years with them at the corp exec level as they bought $M's of our products to settle claim loss.

I can tell you they tweaked the products to allow for maximum cost savings way beyond any other major carriers. If a used door or aftermarket fender was $1 less that is what went on your car. The best product for settling a total was the product that produced the lowest reimbursement to the policy holder.

I never witnessed anything illegal or misconduct but they held true to extensive cost containment and wrote a tight policy.

Read your policies and ask questions about real life scenarios if you don't understand every word or live with what you get.

I have them on my Rhino and Ranger. Mainly used them due to how easy it was to get on road UTV insurance through them. Also their pricing was very fair. I havent had to file any claims with them but so far their customer service has been top notch. I do have to say somthign pretty cool happened a couple weeks ago when Parker had those big storms come through. I received an email from prgressive statting that they were aware of the large storms through the La Paz County area and had a dedicated claims team just for that area and a special number to call. :thumbsup

All of the big stuff, truck houses, boats, etc is all through State farm

I had progressive on a previous boat. I had a break down in Havasu and got towed by Sea tow.

I figured no problem I have towing insurance. I sent in a claim to Progressive and in a short time a claims person called me and questioned me for like 10 minutes about who could be responsible for this claim other than them. What could I of done to avoid the claim etc.

I finally said this is not worth my time for a couple of hundred bucks. Either pay it or not but the call is over.

I got a check a few days later:D

You need to file a formal complaint with the DOI (Dept. of Insurance) and BBB against the company, its true the insurance comm will get you no where! Most important, let the adjuster know what you plan to file...this may motivate them a little.

Stan is correct, its all about how you word the incident report. Having an agent to help you out goes a LONG way in these claims... knowing whats covered and whats not comes down to policy language. We've paid on some pretty grey area boat claims before and have never had a complaint. Its also true most companies find a way to exclude coverage, sometimes paying a little more per year with a better company is worth it???.....just saying:rolleyes:

Progressive pays on claims all the time with my business, usually boats and jet skis. Great people to deal with. Must be a West coast thing or certain areas because I have no complaints whatsoever...

We have our Warrior insured through them. A truck kicked up a rock and broke the front window. I demanded stock window and they took care of everything including the stock window. $800 window repair. I been through their phone loop about four times trying to get the policies right though. Rhino is registered in AZ and they keep sending all the bills there, even the California street bikes. I'm tired of trying to fix it. We have the Rhino, 2 street bikes and the trailer through them. Don't think I would put the trucks or boat on the policy though. Boat is through Westmar. For 5 years you get full replacement on a new boat so we bit.
