I bought this 240 a few years back to restore it. Time and other projects forced me to post it for sale a few weeks ago and then we went to HIH! My son decides he wants to keep it for a father/son project and will assist with time and cash. OK, how can I refuse. So, its begins.......

Bottom damage isn’t as bad as it looks. One of the strakes has a big chunk out about a foot long but it didn’t penetrate the hull. All the stringers are solid and with no delamination noted. Previous owner stripped the flooring and interior and started some of the side repairs.

I can’t wait to see this progress. You guys have an incredible amount of work ahead of you. In the end, getting to spend the time and going through the experience with your son will be worth even more than the boat ever could be.

I feel some responsibility for this thread getting started.:D:D:D And I'm just fine with that.

Was it partly because of this?

Good luck. Happy to help along the way if there is anything I can do.

I guess this is why I choose projects. Once you start tearing it apart you find things that you would never see unless you strip it down to the hull. Lots of regular type screws completely rusted or broken off in the stringer.

That's quite a project! Looking forward to seeing the progress. Do we have a targeted get wet date yet?

Floors were only coated with a 50/50 resin solution, no cloth. Floors screwed to the stringers with regular screws, not stainless, no adhesive, not tabbed to the hull. I understand its a time and money issue for the builder but these were not cheap boats. Don’t get me wrong, these are quality built boats
I just don’t understand why some details are overlooked. I guess this is why I like stripping boats all the way to the hull. It’s my OCD.

Once I cleaned the outside of the belly tank, I noticed several areas where water was trapped between the foam and tank which caused galvanic corrosion. I’m not taking any chance so I will order a new tank from Imco. I’m also going to rhino coat the new tank to prevent this from happening again in the future.

Talked with @ducked_up regarding install the new floors and he said he would add more bulk heads so he‘s got me thinking. What do you think?

Original floors are not tabbed to the side of the hull. Was this done to allow for flex? In my Spectra I tabbed my floors for strength and I was thinking of doing the same in the 240. ( I will be leaving a gap of 1/8” to 1/4” between the hull and the plywood and use a thick resin mix to form a fillet before tabbing)

The bottom is layed up thick and not really a problem. To me the problem is in the sides of the hull. Non of the bulk heads continue from the bottom to the sides like a rib. Like you I’ve had my 240 all the way down to the stringers and i always thought that I would add a rib/bulkhead at the bilge and at the drive and passenger where it meets the stringer. In the rough it seems like there is so flex in those areas.
