Can a 3 blade prop be as fast as a 2 blade on a V-drive cruiser?

I am guessing we are talking top speed? I have never ridden in a cruiser with a 2 blade, A sanger flatty with 2 blade, but that surely does not count. I always thought a good 3 blade from start to top end was all around the best bang. 4-5 mph difference?

Oh and I have no Idea what I am talking about:headscratch:

Yes I was talking about top speed. Let me add a little, I run a 2 blade, on occasion, on my 21 Howard ,with a blown 540, and it is 5/6 mph faster than my 3 blade. Of course it vibrates some at slower speeds. Also I have heard guys on here say that the "right" 3 blade could be as fast as a 2 blade. I am looking for information on the "right" 3 blade.:D

Don't think three ears would ever be faster on the top end, JMO it's getting from 45 to 85 where a 3 blade is worth the ride minus the 3 MPH loss on the top end. BTY I have a GREAT WILKS stainless 3 blade that would be great for your cruisier at Prime Marine Like new 300.00 takes it.:D:D

What size and for what size shaft is it? Do you think its sturdy enough for a blown deal?

15-5 Stainless is way stronger than welded steel.

just my 2 cents input. any application with H.P. over 600. A 3 blade can be dangerous and costly. see previous threads .
