With all of the predicted rain in So Cal this weekend, should I drain the pool a little or just let it overflow? The decking all slopes away from the pool. 50% of the deck is raised 3 feet above pool, the other 50% of deck is at pool level.

I would drain it a tad so I can control where the water goes. It's nice having an overflow drain in times like these....

For the storm I have the valve (hose drain) about half open so it never really overfills during the storm. It drains when the filter runs.I drained 4 or 5 inches the other day as it almost overflowed. I do have auto fill so I don't fuk up and burn equipment up!

I would drain it some so your skimmer can still work as designed and help remove debris from the water surface

Thanks for the replies. Drain in the rain, check! Dropped it down a few inches as it was about two inches from overflow.
