I received that on my voicemail and of course I’m thinking it’s a scam. However something about the guys tone seemed legit so I said, what the heck and I called the guy.

A 1/2 hour conversation later he is sending me pictures of my High School car. Our conversation completed his curiosity of the car's history. I think it stayed in damn good shape, original paint and interior. 1970 AAR Cuda.

That's great. I had several nice muscle cars in the 70's and 80's, I keep waiting for one of those calls.

I see the guy picked the appropriate parking space too!

Very cool that the owner was able to track you down. Did he ask if you wanted to buy it back? :D

There are a few cars out there that I would love to have the current owner contact me and see if I wanted to buy them back. Probably wouldn't be able to afford them though. :(

Like I told the sales guy at the local classic car sales place: I would have a hard time paying $35,000 for a car that I sold for $850 in 1976.

I sometimes think how cool it would be, to be able to track down my dads Vega he had. To even think of the idea if it was still running or what the condition is/ was but to restore it, the sentimental value is priceless.

Had a similar situation the end of last year. Have been staying in touch with the guy with the hope that if he decides to sell he'll get a hold of me.

I was born in the wrong era!
Being 43, in the 90's the cheap beater cars were econo boxes. By 95, kids were learning that 5.0 Foxes didn't stop or turn well stock. Cheap ass V8 swaps into 4eyed early foxes that had 2.3 or 3.8 motors.

Adapt and overcome!

What motor? Was that a 340 tri-power? My first car was a ‘72 340 Cuda with a Carter thermoquad and 4 speed, Hurst pistol grip.

That’s an awesome story, and cool that you completed the knowledge circle.

I had the inverse of that happen about 10 years ago. Driving home from breakfast I get a call from a neighboring area code. I almost didn’t answer but I used to live in that area code and had friends from there. Turns out the guy was looking for his 66 Chevelle SS from high school. He described a specific dent it had, and we knew it was his.

I told him it wasn’t for sale, as I truly had been collecting parts for restomodding it. He asked if he could just see it, and I told him it was pretty rough, and again, it wasn’t for sale.

Sure enough, he made the 2 hour drive that day, saw it and wanted to buy it. Nope!

Well, he kept pestering me for a few weeks and broke me down. I had spent more on parts than I’d paid for the car, and although he choked on the demand price/release fee, he hauled it home. I knew he should have it, but I regret selling it. I’ll find another one at 3 times the price when I’m ready.

He installed the new NOS quarters I had (and fixed his dent), the rebuilt tilt wheel, tinted glass, power windows and power seats I had collected for it.

I guess it’s at the proper home.

Not sure but I sold it in 78 for $2,500

Have to recall no one wanted a 12 mpg car in 78. 70’s muscle cars had the cooties in 78

my mom sold her 69 firebird in 1980. I was 2. Really wish they would have kept that car.

Since there are a few Mopar fans on this thread...
How about this 426 Wedge with factory cross ram and numbers matching Carter AFBs that I am putting in a 1965 Lavey I’m restoring.
Boat will be assembled with all period correct pieces.
The sons want to recreate their father’s boat.

Yeah, it was a 340 6-pack, 4 speed pistol grip.

Had a Holy 4 barrel on it when I had it, but the new owner put the 6 pack back on. LOL when you’re 17 you aren’t thinking it has to be “correct”.

Fuking wedge 6 pack. That car deserves a spot on the throne of pure Mopar awesomeness! I bought my ‘72 from a Mopar engineer that worked at their Highland Park technical center. He was on the team that designed the car. It was cherry.

I bought a 1967 GT500 Shelby in December of 67, it was an intact theft recovery with 1,800 miles on it. I paid $3,250.00 for it, drove it for 3 years and then sold it for $1,800.00. Lost track of the car for years and then tracked it down in the Shelby registry, by that time it was owned by The Red Rocker (Musician, can't remember his name). Then about 2 years ago I saw it go through one of the car auctions on TV. It was definately my car as some of the changes like aftermarket under dash air and converted from automatic to 4 speed that I had done to it were still on the car. It sold for $105K which was a really good price at that time. Wish I still had it.
