Your gate looks sweet!

Can you post a pic from the back side? I’m looking to do something similar

Thanks, wish I would have done it years ago. Notice the clavos on the front are functional, through bolted to the frame. The knob is a mechanism to exit the gate without reaching over or having a chain.

Gate was built by Angels Ornamental Iron in Anaheim.

Finally finished the 49 Buick. Parts were hard to find for that car.

Snow melted, been able to hit hard for a couple days...redneck on a mission! View attachment 733568
So I ask this question cause I'm thinking when we move to AZ I'd love to put a big steel building garage on the property (if we do get a larger lot like I want).......

Why not rent a petibone style forklift for the lifting job? I'd imagine the cost wouldn't be too much and it would likely be MUCH faster.

Out here there are only two rental outfits that would have a reach lift. They run a tad less than 300$ per day. Normally, a crew running this type of deal would also have at least one scissor lift as well, working in conjunction with one another. Flying the beams to an awaiting person, or persons, to pin the ends in place.
Due to family obligations, it is difficult for me to get many full days applied to this project. That, coupled with weather, and renting such equipment becomes less and less possible (at least from my financial background)
The F-Series boom crane actually has one serious advantage over a hydraulic lifting assembly. At the extension needed, roughly 25 feet, I could "inch" the suspended mass up or down. When working alone, that is one hell of an advantage to have when aligning 12 foundation anchor bolts with a wall that weighs over a ton. I have used reach lifts, but never to that level of accuracy, and also never alone.
If I had one, I'd use it. This is a low buck kind of deal though. What I save now can be put towards further improvements later;)

Im kinda slow. Sucks.

Today I am doing some 304 correct 1" pipe thread to oversize 1" pipe adapters. Seems someone built a tank and welded in a bunch of fittings no one measured. Fittings bottom out and don't tighten up.

SB Products to the rescue. :)

Picked up this 1983 Honda 200e Big Red ATC for dirt cheap. Ran when put away in the tool shed 15 years ago. Also got the flatbed/buggy trailer in the deal too. Clean them up and see what I can work my magic on. I'm a glutton for punishment...

Decided to take out the front portion of the soffit in the kitchen and take advantage of there being no kids in the house. Got it all cut and demoed out last night. This evening I'm hoping to get all the new rock hung, register relocated (drove me nuts with the arbitrary placement of it), new can lights cut in, and the J-box for the ceiling light fixture relocated to the center of the space. I'll be doing really well if I can get the first layer of mud, tape, and corner beads up there as well.

Edit: Tapashit wouldn't let me upload pics...

You probably don’t want to hear this but remove the Sophit above the refer ( rt side of pic) all the way to the cabinet sophit. It will give you a much more open feeling, open the space up ! The existing sophit isn’t doing anything for your space, leave the sophit at the cabinets.

Looks great and a much needed improvement!

I wanted to. I just don't have the time to do so. Cutting that soffit that far back would double the scope.

I got the ceiling electrical box moved over to the center as well as the supply register. Got all the rock cut and hung...... Then realized I somehow fucked up either my measurements or my math and the register hox is NOWHERE near centered. So tomorrow... Down the ceiling sheet comes and re-do the register then move the opening over in the sheet rock. FML! It is looking and feeling MUCH more open...

Put all my winter toys to bed for the summer. It was a great season but we have a big RV trip planned for spring break so it cut our desert season short.

Bikes put away and on batter tenders.

Rhino put away covered and on tenders.
IMG_2607.jpg

Pre runner put away covered and on tenders.
IMG_2608.jpg

Broke down camp and pulled the trailer.

Put the trailer in it’s storage in Temecula. (Will Be going back out next weekend to get it and bring home so we can prep and pack for our trip to Yosemite).
IMG_2620.jpg

Another project is building a center console for the pre runner. To house the cb/ intercom new switch panel and the most important....cup holders. Everything is dry fit. Need to button up a few things then will upholster it.

You should probably get ahold of a stereo guy to do that console. You know, someone that knows what they are doing. ;-)

A caboose??o_O By trade I'm a residential remodel guy. Mostly kitchens and bathrooms. We're in between projects right now due to some scheduling and permit issues. So we have been calling back some clients that have called and asked the ' When you have time, can you come over and'..... This is a long time client and we were doing some repairs on his house and asked if we would have time to put roofing on the caboose. Caboose is a 1913 model that he moved on to his property 25 or so years ago and has been rebuilding it ever since. He had a health scare a few years ago and is not getting any younger, so we are glad to help him out.:) Sorry for the shitty pics, my phone is having issues.

I figured if Stacy David can have a "what are you working on" so can RDP.

I'm working on a 49 Buick Dynaflow today. Cracked exhaust manifold and 2 broken bolts, hopefully no more, I had the owner spray the bolts with PB Blaster for the last 3 days with the engine cold and warm a couple times a day.

My dads neighbor (Mike), he was going to sell it but when his daughter found out she said she wanted it, so he is going to send it to her in New Mexico.

*already did it*
Glamis trips sometimes create situations where things have to be fixed sooner rather than later.
My bud @endobear his son cracked the case on his 80, second or third day out.
So, the thrash began.
He was riding again a little after dark.

Cool.
Not the car I thought it was but that’s a cool story.

I gotta stay busy. The desert stuff has stayed in one piece, so I converted a brushless wraith into a SMT10.
