15-20 years ago my buddy Matt and I considered renting a commercial space.. It was gonna be setup with pool tables, couches, a bar, draft beer and bottles.. An available bartender on call, but would actually work the weekends.. There would be lockers for people to put higher end bottles of booze or to keep things that they wanted to keep private for whatever reason..

It was gonna be setup as a private membership club where business people could take clients to entertain, or friends etc.. and yes in some area a private conference room setup for meetings.

We got as far as actually penciling numbers on what the membership dues would be but we never had the financial ability to front it to get it going..

Two nights ago I literally walked in to Our dream and it is in fact a reality..

I was with Phillip from Gatorstep and he said “let’s goto the club”. We went to a commercial building and he unlocked the door and….

This one is done as a dads club, and they do a lot of things with kids.. They also have members only nights and family nights and a lot of other things.

I don’t know how I didn’t take a pic of the old soda machine that dispenses beers..

This is a private club with about 40-50 members that each pay 150.00 a month and they all have 24 hr access to the facility. It is everything I dreamed it would be, and I’m happy it’s working for these guys. I look forward to going again!

So its for all ages ? I would not be to excited to show up to a place and twenty kids running around like a chucke cheese !

No.. lol. It’s a dads club. They do kids stuff on Sundays I believe. And they put together group trips with the other dads and kids - camping / surfing and other things.

The rest of the time it’s a private club.

That’s pretty cool. Less stuffy golf or yacht club. 😁👍

There’s something like this (but kindve different) above the star lounge in downtown Ventura. Private club for men only. No women and no children except I think sundays. Place is set up like a high end bar / smoking lounge through. 24 hour access. Bar tender there certain hours. It’s pretty slick. Have some friends that belong. Can’t remember wtf it’s called though.

Too funny. There are cop shops with this very thing. Something about decompressing with those who actually understand you.
Stress Reduction Centers (SRC).......a lot of POA's have them. Heard a few horror stories about them...Badge Bunnies = PI's.

Toes on the Nose warehouse is next door, old buddy of mine owns it, check out their gear, it’s good stuff. Probably affiliated with him, looks cool.

Reading some of these responses really has me shaking my head. The negativity is out of control with some of you guys..
Agreed.....as a part timer in Havasu, I would be interested in membership if you built one in Havasu.

I am kinda considering it to be honest.. just a cool place to go.. abd you don’t have to deal With the crowds at the bars etc..

I actually use my office as a private night time spot sometimes with friends.. most don’t know it but I put in a pretty nice sound system and we are always stocked with beers.. 🤪

So it's Boy Scouts without merit badges. 👍

Or is there a merit badge for drinking and Foose Ball and shit?

🤷‍♂️

P.S. Boy Scout dues are Way less. 😉

Very cool. I imagine we will start seeing more and more of these "private" type of groups and clubs in the future.

That Mitco sticker brings back some good memories. Mitco Bultaco was motorcycle dealership in Buena Park in the late 60 and 70s. I had a 1969 Bultaco Pursang 250 in JR High and during the Summer if I needed a part we would ride our bicycles from Long Beach to Buena Park, it would take us all day but was a big adventure for us kids. Looks like a Filtron filter sticker on the left side of the toolbox. Good times.

Different? How so?

It looks like you want a place for dads to plan stuff with their kids. A place for dads to do stuff with their kids. That's 100% Boy Scouts Dave! It's exactly what the BSA is all about: Turning boys in to men, disguised as fun.

This is a vid from The Summit Betchel Reserve. Sucks our troop never planed a trip there, but it's without a doubt THE coolest thing I've ever seen...

I think it is much less of a kid thing and much more of an adult hangout...

I can’t speak for what this club is as I’m not a part of it.. I can tell you I saw photos of a group trip where they took the kids shooting.. I also saw pics of a party they had with a band on the stage in the back.

Neither of those things would happen at the Boy Scouts.. I would be interested in both of those things.

aside from that I believe the Boy Scouts has taken a bit of a left turn in recent years..

I went through scouts...cubs,boy,venture etc. I'm an Eagle Scout, 5 palms, OA, and Heroism Award recipient.... BSA taught me A LOT of great skills, and allowed me to do some very cool things as a kid/teen (high adventure trips etc). I served as a district commissioner and eagle advisor during some of college. I am thankful that I went through BSA at a time it wasn't ran by feminists, apologists, sissies and the like. BSA today is nothing more than a shell of what it once was...and thats putting it nicely. The stuff we got to do is largely gone...but hey its now "inclusive" right?... My kids will have no involvement with the bastardized participation trophy version that exists today, nor with Girl Scouts and the mess they have become.

This deal Dave posted is intriguing...im sure things like this could be a solid substitute and be pretty easy to recruit members..

Congratulations! My son is an Eagle as well.

I've watched our old troop slide downhill a bit too. Bit, that's only due to the Scoutmaster that took over...

There was an outing he cancelled cause it was supposed to rain. WTF? That's the whole point of Scouting! To learn to make due no matter what.

The Scoutmaster's we had in the beginning would have had the kids sleeping in the rain with no tents! 😝

Scouts is all about the dad's that run the Troup. I sure hope there are a few real men left out there. 👍

Dude...

Shooting Sports weekend was the most attended event we had in out troop! Clay birds and 22's from sunrise to sunset. We blew through shit tons of ammo!

The kids didn't get their merit badges until they can actually hit something. So they can probably all shoot better than you.

One year, our scout master had previously been a military chef. He decided we should have steak and lobster at dinner. The kids learned to cook steaks, lobster, baked potatoes and corn on the cob, over a campfire in the middle of the desert.

Water sports weekend was well attended too. Teaching the kids to water ski. No pussy wake boards allowed. Always in Parker or Havasu.

Then there were the week long back pack trips. Hiking Half Dome, and up the Merced river. River rafting trips. Hobbie cat trips...

Snow camping and hiking. Snow skiing trips...

Camping on Catalina for a week. Hiking, snorkeling, more guns and archery...

We had ONE game night every year. That was it. ONE. No Foose Ball or pin ball games for our kids.

The BSA has done what they had to do to stave off the libtard lawsuits.

The individual troops are run by the dad's still. Every troop makes their own rules and sets their own events.

It seems to me everywhere you look, the vocal minority does their best to control the general narrative. Look at all the ignorance in the Olympics thread!

You can bow to it, or decide your own fate.

Choose wisely. 👍

Im not sure I understand what your saying. In the post above this one you are saying it slipped a bit.. then in this post you are talking about how good it “was”.

I’m not sure where a private club ended up getting compared to the Boy Scouts.. but I personally am not real interested in the Boy Scouts. A commercial space setup as a man cave that has kids activities every now and again I am interested in though.. Because of the man cave part and balance between kids activities. A place to go and have drinks while watching a ufc fight or something sounds fun.

That place is over the top. Would have to upgrade and make sure my health insurance premiums were paid up to date
