Sally Jewell, president and CEO of recreational retailer REI has been chosen to head up the Dept. of the Interior. In case you didn't know, REI is a Co-op type operation where the workers and customers own the business. Folks, that's Communism, straight out of Karl Marx: "the workers control the means of production"..... And so it goes, a nominee for the Cabinet is the current head of a communist-style organization!

On the surface this looks good, but its actually WAY bad!!!

REI gives shit loads of money to the idiots at the CBD, and we all know they hate anything off-road.

This is a huge trojan horse against us....

She is a snake...and she'll fit right in.
I hope we can hang on to this country long enough to have something left to rebuild when these socialist bastards are done with it.

California has 55 electoral votes. When was the last time California voted republican? Thanks to that bit of help, I don't see them leaving anytime soon.

FWIW, REI is easily the best run, managed and outfitted store I frequent. Every year I spend thousands of dollars there. I have written four letters to managers in response to amazing customer service, and been blown away by their return policies, the pricing and the way they treat the customers.

Additionally, I don't know of a single retailer with more knowledgable sales staff.

If she runs the DOI anywhere near as well as she ran her business... We are in luck.

Let's all imagine that I posted something in this thread for the sole purpose of getting a rise out of people and pissing them off.

Almost everthing you just said it true. I shop there myself for my hiking supplies. But you know as well as I do, the are way overpriced on their stuff!!!

This is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Read more...

Since 1976, REI has provided more than $37 million to nonprofit organizations that share our goal to protect and preserve our country?s natural spaces and to get more people into the outdoors.

REI hates anything that burns fuel...

I imagined an all time new low of thread crapping. I'm very disappointed. :thumbsdown

Sierra Club has given her their blessing.
That's all I need to know.

I never shop REI unless I have to, personal choice based on their tree-hugger nature.

Give me an idea of where you would go to buy the new Thermarest camp bed. You need it today for this weekend.

Go.

I wish I would have seen this thread / post earlier. I just bought new skiis and bindings from a place in Mammoth. I should have waited and bought them at REI. :grumble:

I have a love/hate with REI...cutting edge stuff, stupid knick knacks...

I like that the product push boundries, but some are rediculous...Acrylic wine glasses for backpacking? And try and buy a frame backpack. If you ask for one you are a moron. They definitley have an agenda, but what does the lady have to say for herself?

Twenty bucks cheaper and no tax on Amazon. I think pretty much every sporting goods store out there carries them. Bass Pro has lots in stock, and they don't suck the Sierra Clubs cock either. :thumbsdown

Whats the address of Amazon? I'll go buy it right now.

And actually, total post backfire... The lowest price one on REI is $69 for the smaller one, and $57 for a USED one on Amazon. $109 was the top price on both... and retail for Thermarest.

Anyone who advertises it cheaper they will match. I do it all the time at REI. Nobody sells it cheaper that has a store. Usually ends up cheaper anyway when you add shipping.

Plus, I get 10% back every year on every dollar I spend there as a dividend.

REI is one of the best stores in the world for my dollar... Even if they are hippies.

Camping for me is a nice toy hauler.
Unless that Thermarest can replace my queen-sized bed, I'm not interested LOL
