Chicken pox could kill kids too but parents still had their kids go ha g out with tbe chicken pox kid to get it back in the day.

Well, there are always going to be outliers with any virus or illness. Sad but true. The newest death rate by the CDC for COVID is....... wait for it........ .000006. That’s right. 6 in every million. Nothing to see here folks. Get yer masks on and obey.

FWIW...

Mask usage is nearly universal here, and I'm not to far from where you are.

The Rt (I think that is what the metric is called) has dipped below 1, which means the virus can't find enough hosts to sustain new infections. Personally I thought one of the big missteps in this saga was the govt telling people not to wear masks in the beginning.

So the infection rate decreasing, that is good news.

Have the masks helped? I dunno for sure but based on the reasoning behind them I can't say they hurt either.

We have to wear them at work, and I put it on only when going indoors. The libertarian in me gets a bit of a kick out of short circuiting the facial recognition software wearing a mask and sunglasses. It offsets the having to wear one in the first place.

Deaths are still predominantly in the 70+ year old range.

I still fall in the "wear one of you want to but don't have a coniption if I choose not to" and vice versa, camp.
