Anyone try to do their own? I was looking online for the kit but when I saw it came with 5 tools I am wondering if I just bring it to the Mac Clinic.

It’s very easy to do yourself. I’ve had to do a handful of them. The tools are nothing special, but come in handy.

Thank you. About how long does it take? I am not cheap and don’t mind paying for a service but the place here is $80 per hour.

It depends on which iPhone you have. Chances are if you do it yourself the phone will probably never be the same. I do lots of mac repairs, even swapped the motherboard on my mac. But the phones can be tricky.

iPhone screen was pretty easy but I wouldn't trust it being waterproof anymore.

With that being said, don't try replacing the back glass. I'll buy a new phone before I do that again.

Maybe 15-20 minutes. All mine have been on 10 and below. So no idea about the latest and greatest ones though.

I’ve done 4 or 5. I now buy the pre assembly. Makes it a lot more simple. Little more expensive. Worth it.

How about an Ipad? It's bigger so it should be easier, no?

It's cheap enough just to pay a pro to do it. Just my opinion. It' only $80 for my Iphone 7 Plus. How much is the screen by itself out of curiosity?

Nothing worse than a down phone, take it to the store pay the 80$ and be done in 25 minutes. You’ll also have a warranty to be sure all the buttons and touch work correctly.

Depends on the model. Anything 10+ you’ll need some pretty specialized equipment or you’ll risk damaging the screen, the expensive part versus removing the just glass. They’re basically glued together and you have to remove the glass from the lcd without damaging it. iPads are “easy” in comparison. I’ve done quite a few of both. It can’t get “more broken” and anything lower than a 12 is a dinosaur at this point and you might as well try.

I had one of those need shops do my screen on my Samsung S20, the selfie camera never worked after they replaced the screen, good thing I'm an ugly mofo and don't take selfies. It was expensive as hell too, because they had to buy all parts directly from Samsung.
