Will be in Vegas for a couple of days beginning of March for a small trade show. Looking for a recommendation on a old time steak house . Been to Binions so looking for something different.

Do you want to stay close to the strip? There's some good off the strip places around town. If not there's a ton of great steakhouses on or near the strip.

Not an old time steakhouse by any means, but I would take a hard look at Gordon Ramsay Steak

Not a steak house but Bootlegger's Bistro is excellent old school Italian. South end of LV Blvd, not far from South Point Casino. White linen table cloths and some high back, old Vegas style booths available.

Reviews are mixed but I’ve always had real good experiences at Phil’s in Treasure Island.
It’s been a number of years since I’ve eaten there though.

If you are staying downtown try Hugo's Cellar.
If off of the strip my go to is always Del Frisco's. Lawry's is always good too.

Cool thanks....
Dinner Reservations recommended for the restaurant. Also an outstanding 15 piece group, Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns, appear in the Bootlegger's Copa Room on Mondays only, 7:30-9:00. Rock, soul, jazz, funk etc. Tickets via texting the Copa Room.

Barry’s is the bomb x10! In Circa resort, last time I was there Mike Tyson was in with a group in a special room I bet they spent $1 million just on the interior design alone this is a must see.

x2 on Hugo's in the 4 Queens if you want a classic Old School Vegas steakhouse. We are talking career waiters, excellent wine cellar, phenomenal value, and it's one of the last steakhouses in Vegas that haven't been perverted into modern Vegas styling, it's just the same as it was 40 years ago.

Now if you want over the top Modern/Luxury, Barry's in the Circa is pretty unreal. One of my clients and a good friend did all the interior design for them, i did a bunch of machining and fabrication on some of the furniture in there. It's absolutely beautiful inside. Never eaten there but i've heard it's good.

For me Hugo's is just hard to beat, but i like old school and the maître d' is a friend and always takes care of us.

My best advice is to avoid anywhere on the strip for a meal. all corporate run restaurants with high staff turnover, and you are paying for their rent, not the food.

Have you ever tried Bob Taylor's Ranch House? Super old school, I drive by it everyday, but haven't had it in years. I know it's far as fuck from you though.

Old-school Italian…a few years ago, we had a great meal at Case di Amore and Jerry Lewis was sitting at the table next to us. He said it was one of his favorite places…

Kind of random but...

Pia Zadora does a regular gig at an old school Italian place in Vegas. Its a old "rat pack" type of place that I can't think of the name of off the top of my head. I would think it would be easy to find?

I have friends who go regularly to see her and have drinks - they tell me its one of their favorite old school Vegas places.

First time staying at the Aria, but it seems mostly Japanese food. Javier's looks inserting..
It's DAMN good. I had this scallope dish 3 weeks ago and it was really good. Din Tai is my brother favorite restaurant down in Vegas.

I've heard that place was good. They have a dope Tiki Bar that is only open certain times of the year too.

I'll join in with the Golden Steer group. In a strip mall, but old school white table cloth place. When you order, they make the ceasar salad at the table.

Smith & Wollensky's, hands down.

Disclaimer, I haven't been there since they moved locations into the Venetian.

Piero's for the win!

They bill it as italian but they have great steaks, apps, etc. They filmed casino scenes there and a few presidents ate there. Hell I met John Boehner last time i ate there.

Peppermill was previously mentioned. Do any inmates recall when that location was Jack Dennison’s Copper Cart restaurant? Outstanding old style Las Vegas steaks and prime rib. Adjacent to the El Morocco motel and casino.

I like his Uncharted show, but not a fan of Hells Kitchen.

Looking for Rat Pack type places...

Not a steakhouse but for cool old style Vegas memorabilia, try Batista's Hole in the Wall behind the Flamingo. Fun place. For steaks, you can't go wrong with the restaurant at Circus Circus.

I've ate here before and total forgot about it. I think this one would be the other night... its been years.

I always recommended Del Friscos. But my visit in January was not good. Never had bad service there but this was really bad. Covid killed the place.

Golden Steer for sure. I also like Hugo's in the Four Queens. The Golden Steer has had a resurgence in recent years due to folks searching out the old school Vegas experience. Everything's so new it's nice to throw back to these two joints.

If you want some outstanding Italian food, and beyond old school entertainment, Go to the Italian American Club of Las Vegas. I am a member, but the place is open to the public. m]Now 75 years old, and yes, all of the Rat Pack were members and attended often, photos on the entry wall. https://iacvegas.com/

BTW, Batistas is for sure old, but the food is an 7-8, IAC is a 10 and very reasonable, at Sahara and Eastern, huge parking lot.

Italian American club of Las Vegas is open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday every night between 630 and 7 PM there is live entertainment old school in the lounge all free. This is truly Vegas once you sit at your table as long as you have a great dinner and order drinks afterwards you’re on the table for the night don’t worry about turnover this is as good as it gets for old-school Las Vegas.
