Took this a year or so ago on a potty-break w/ Pops.

The fence and old gas station didn't really have much in the shoe regard until the shoetree a bit east of there was burned down.....twice.Been there as long as I can remember...

I’d just finished exploring Desert Center and was on my way to see what I could find in Rice. It would be a 50-mile drive, and would take about 30 minutes to get there, unless I saw something interesting along the way. I made it to Rice in 30 minutes. Not to say that there aren’t interestcali49.com

Funny you say that, driving through last week we saw Osprey landing and taking off out thereI posted in the osprey thread we spent NYE off rice and were kicked out by the gov. It was a fun weekend seeing shit I’d never seen right off the rd. View attachment 980207

Yep. Post #32I think gigamurph lived in Desert Center. Nobody's lived in Rice since the '40s. When the Gas Station was still open, my folks would supply them with touristy trinkets to sell. Stuff like Blue-Jean style coffee cups and the other crap you see in every stop in the desert. I'd drive out there to re-stock the stuff and collect payment every couple of weeks. This was around '87 or so.
