I mentioned in my other thread that I have been shooting rifled slugs in the desert. I have to say it is the most fun of any gun I've ever shot at stationary targets. It's a 12 gauge Remington 870. 40 years old, I bought it new as a kid. Modified choke. I wanted to shoot something of my own when the other guys were all playing with their ARs. I had always wondered about the accuracy etc of this setup. Frankly, I was blown away (another intended pun). It is very accurate at about 120 yards. My very first shot I added quite a bit of elevation to the shot and missed exactly how I compensated. So I put the bead right on the target, second shot hit it (pumpkin). I thought maybe it was a fluke, but subsequent shots were just as good.

Soooooo... why is nobody else shooting these? Big bang, big hole, super fun.

Wus. It only hurts for a second. I'm a little guy and can take that shit all day :p In all seriousness, I haven't shot an 1100 in a long time. Recoil much better?

Anything semi-auto is gonna have waaay less recoil than an 870.

I haven’t shot an 1100 but I do have a Beretta A350 Xtrema, one of the softest-shooters out there...I can shoot that all day

I will 2nd the Slugs out of an 870 Platform. I'm 6'3" and 225lbs. I would say after about 20 of em, you start to feel it, big time. And the next few days later Lol.

OP, if you're willing to spend some money, you need to look into a reliable semi-auto Platform. It gets ALOT more fun. :)

I've shot 1100s, but I don't recall it being that different. Long time ago. This 870 was one of the first things I ever purchased as a kid with a job, so it is special. If I start shooting skeet or birds again I'll probably go that route. As is, the pain keeps the cost down...

I agree that 12ga slugs are one of the most fun things to shoot. That's a lota lead, and it's moovin! Federal low recoil slugs from my 590A1 Mossberg are great. We shoot quite a few in the Front Sight classes.
