Rip Jeff Grosso, 1968-2020

Got word a little while ago that Grosso passed away today. Heart attack is what I was told. Shitty deal, I saw him at Vans HB a few weeks ago banging it out on the vert ramp.

Episode of love letters to skateboarding below from a badlands visit, dude was an icon and having a good run of life in this phase.

"Next, Round Shallow" "After" After, after"....Hahahaha. Watching SAlba and MAlba skate The Combi Pool was AMAZING. I was there one night in the mid 80s and MAlba, SAlba, Grosso, Hosio, Mountian, Miller, and a few others Im forgetting were there for one of their Bdays I think.... The entire park watched as they absolutely SLAYED the Combi Pool!!!! The Alba Bros were there all the time, and were the COOLEST guys. I was soooo bummed when they closed down.

Shitty part is he had an 8 year old son and they mutually adored each other. Tomorrow is promised to no one.

I’m supposed to keep this material on the DL for the film, but since it’s just us here I can share a couple stills. These will all be shot on a motion matte camera rig that I recently brought back from the dead and installed a 4K camera on. It’s a badass old rig that was originally owned by the production house that did all the VH1 behind the music shows. It’s a tool that is used to ad motion to stills in a very fast and effeciant way, Ken Burns effect. I’ll put a link up to Stacy’s Instagram where he explains the significance of this old dinosaur contraption when he was down doing a session on it for his new Gerry Lopez film. All this can be done on with editing software, but it’s a shit ton of work and costs a lot to have done. This is quick and organic. If any of you dudes have old stills or video of badlands skating, hit me up as I’m actively working and logging our archive now.
