Nothing worse than driving home from work seeing smoke close to the house.
Closer I got to home, the closer it looked.

Brush fire in the canyon at the end of our street and coming up the hill.
And no fire dept on scene...yet.

We’ll roll in they did. Truck 8 was on our street. Several trucks in the neighborhood and then the helicopter rolled in.
Within a few minutes of the heli, we had big jets flying in dropping the red shit.
That pilot is insane! And I hope he never changes.

Thank you, RCFD! You guys kicked some serious ass yesterday. And as far as I can tell everyone slept in their beds last night.

Those pilots are bad ass, watched them do multiple drops last weekend in AZ.

C 130.......lots of them in use for fire fighting now, they replaced the Orion P3.

of course it a JET.

the props are connected via a gear box to the turbine.......

what we consider moden jets are really a hybrid turbine/fan and the fan (really a prop) provides more thrust then the "jet" section of the engine does

A very good friend of mine, an ex Navy P-3 pilot and now a Senior Delta pilot, once told me - those fire fighting guys get all the fun. Those guys do an amazing job.
