There is going to be a Olympic Trials Triathlon held on July 20th in the same area as the Catalina Ski Race. The bicycle course is going to use part of the Queen Mary parking lot so there are going to be some road closures on the morning of Saturday, July 20th.
Here is what we know:
The Queensway Bridge will only be accessible from Ocean Blvd, all access from Shoreline Drive will be closed. Heading south over the bridge only the right lane will be open and all traffic will be required to take the 710N/Queensway Drive exit. No traffic will be allowed to use the north bound lanes, the bridge heading north will be closed. If someone is trying to get to the Southshore ramp (especially towing a boat) from the 710S they will need to take the “Downtown/Aquarium” exit then use 6th Ave to Magnolia, turn right and Magnolia will take them directly to Queensway Bridge. If they do not take that exit from the 710S they will have serious trouble getting turned around.
The Queen Mary will be accessible from the 710S but traffic will be forced to exit on we believe Harbor Plaza East. How they plan on getting traffic from there to the Queen we are not certain.
Give yourself some extra time race morning.
