I'm not a RG fanboy, but I do think it's inaccurate to characterize RG as a race driver who crashes a lot. I think the opposite is true. He does often break down and repair in desert races taking him out of contention (it happens when you design and build your own stuff pushing the limits). And he is still wicked fast when he wants to be. There are very few people on earth who can regularly out qualify RG offroad. How many people in history have won races in Indycar, Cup, IMSA, TransAm, and Off road?

Aah, I figured it had older the General Electrics that made the 'ripping' sound on takeoff.

25’s and the few 28’s they built had the GE noise makers.

Once the 31 came out they went to the Stage 3 compliant Garrett engines and carried them over to the 35.

The 35 pre-dates the 31 by about 15 years.

Garret was looking for an airframe for the new little turbo fan. Lear put the engine on a Lear 25D to make the 35. All that fuel that made the 25 a 1500 mile range airplane made the 35 a 2500 mile range one. You can go a looking ways on one.

I think it was more of just a joke, I was thinking the same thing. I also think people get skeptical because he pre sold and or took deposits on a machine he hadn't even built yet. Also he is over promising and under delivering. Not on the quality per se (but no one really knows other that what he says or shows on his video updates) but on the actual delivery of the product. That can be a dangerous thing for a new company.

I did the same with Ford on the new Bronco? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I stand corrected. All I remembered is they both had Garrett’s.

I’ve never liked the product. They fly like a brick, take so much runway you’re limited on where you can go and are uncomfortable in the front and back. 👎👎

2500 miles was a nice range then. Were the tip tanks enlarged?

I'm sure robby has other investors that come from the offroad world. If I had to guess the deposit is to see what interest there would be. Also robby has won in every series he has raced in offroad NASCAR indy car trans am

Hadn't followed any racing in so many years, I only recently heard of him racing Baja --- and when I inquired about what the RG stood for on my Wildcat. Hope he's in Havasu some trip, I'll be dragging my toy over once they get the new shop opened. 👍

The turbofans were just that much more efficient.

The 35 might have had a little more fuel in the wings than the 25, but it was mostly the newer engines.

He doesnt care about PR. He is a down to earth very cool person.he let's his accomplishments speak for themselves and doesnt care for anyone "touting" his image.

I've ran into him at the dunes here in Oregon a few times. Dude is super cool a hell of alot of fun to watch run his trucks in the dunes. Hell a buddy and myself actually pulled his truck back to camp for him when he broke it, years ago.

I don't know anything about RG --- somebody else was commenting on his planes and how long he's owned them. I'm just surprised because I hadn't a clue Robbie was anybody, since it seems whenever I read anything, he broke or crashed, or --- I dunno, I'm just surprised he has any money I guess.

Also you might have noted I was having some fun with Bill Perkins who knows less than I do about the dude. I do happen to own a Wildcat XX with RG graphics on it and I'm hearing he's going to open a shop in Havasu --- which might be good for me, so I can get my car worked on and help him buy Jet fuel 😁

If you read what I wrote, I wrote that he's being smart as a business man using other people's money to built his new SxS (Did not write to fly around the country)--- that's NOT derogatory, it's a friggin compliment.
I was waiting for a chase down from your post ..... some of us are a tad sensitive. Oh shit, my turn.

He has won a lot more races than me, owns 2 planes more than me and lots of other accomplishments. Until I surpass him, I think I’ll be respectful and happy for the guy. When I surpass him, (never) I think I’ll be respectful and happy for him. I trip out on some of the jealous haters talking out of their neck on here...

Oh I got spanked a bit, but in turn I got some Robbie schooling, which is fine. Apparently just remembering who Parnelli Jones is, doesn't count much anymore 😁

This is exactly why I let all my clients think I am BARELY squeaking by. You cant let them see the success. They equate it to their money, and think they are paying you too much! This is a prime example!

My wife always asks why I drove a shitty paint faded daily driver. I explained but she never understood.

This is WHY! Lol

looks like about 38 more races than I’ve won, unless you count races back home from dinner against my neighbor. I have a pretty good record.

See your point but it’s a losing battle either way so might as well enjoy yourself.. Then again, i haven’t bought a new car for myself since 2000. Still kicking myself for selling that damn Jeep

A 1980s Lear 35 is worth less than a million dollars. Buying an old jet doesn't take money, but operating it does.

Totally true! The plane is worth 400-500k tops if you could even find a buyer for it.

They are worth whatever is left on the engines factored on the inspection cycle.

Lots of bang for the buck though. Could be a fun couple of years until you run up on a big inspection or overhaul... Then make a lawn ornament out of it.

I must have missed where RG was concerned about the Year and Or Value of his Plane, or that he was attempting to sell it?🤔

He is bringing all his Textron cars to the new dealer first, to sell them before they become obsolete. :)

Now come on, at least I got the real deal RG version, not a Bass Tracker and I'm driving mine and you're not --- so HA ;) Hey, I don't know the guy, but I'm damn glad he's coming into Havasu, about time us Textron guys got represented. 😁

That’s exactly the info he said the other day, I don’t mean it as a slight. He’s putting together all the Textrons he has to sell them. RG sells his prepped and modded Textron cars for over $40k.... the Speed 2 seat cars cars are gonna be less than that, and better.

Oh 🤭 Didn't know he was selling the real deal RG Wildcats, not just accessories for them. Other than his race cars, which I've seen pictures of.
Is he moving to Havasu ? So we'll soon see a RG boat ?
Certainly makes sense. I hope he continues some support for the WC II, not that I need a full on RG conversion, or inclined to spend $ 40K on a toy I rarely use, but a more HD upgrade on a few of the weaker links could improve "Get ya back home" reliability.
That and knowledgeable service, assuming he's importing talent, that knows these machines. Guess we'll see.

That talent you speak of already resides in Havasu at Morgan Motorsports.

It sounds like support for that platform will continue, however the primary car They support is now going to be his own.

It sounds like his kid lives in Havasu with the kids mom. I don’t think he is moving to Havasu, as his base of operations is in NC, and he has a plane.

I recall a thread started by Dave some time ago about Morgan. As I followed the thread the $$$$$ keep growing. Then Inoticed the Speed SxS there, and even more $$$$$$ were added. Then I noticed a FB page with pictures of Raptor's on the rack getting suspension mods, with even more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ---- Then I got scared. 😂

I got a problem, I just love buying shit and I really love spending mass dollars on cool shit, it's a rush, right up until my head hits the pillow at night and I'm overwhelmed with the guilt knowing my demons have claimed another victory.

I avoid places like that for the same reason gambling addicts avoid casinos. But, if they could just do a couple little upgrades 🤔 Sure, that's how it always starts 🥵

My dad is a retired stock broker. He didn't spend money when the market was down. He had two planes, but didn't have pictures of them in his office. Didn't invite clients over to our house, etc. Another broker in his office is very wealthy. He drove a rambler in the 1980's.

Private jets even from the 1990's era are inexpensive to buy, but very expensive to operate.

Jealously and Envy is a powerful drug. It ends many a business arrangement. I don't socialize with my clients or ever let them know what I have or do. That is why its an easy decision for me to not have any social media that identifies myself.

Couldnt agree more, I drive a Chevy Volt on client visits and leave the Rolex at home. Not sure why I even own a Rolex, I dont like wearing it, too pretentious and the whole look at me thing just doesn't work for me.

And then you probably forget the key in the console and it honks at you twice as you walk away from the car.....

Rob spends more time in the air in his trucks than he does in the plane.

Also remember, besides his racing ventures, and the new UTV deal, he OWNS the Speed Energy drink company and brand PLUS the Stadium Super Trucks circuit, including all the race vehicles and support. The UTV project is small potatoes, compared to the rest of his empire.

Street Sweeper all my life. Several years back a Resident in a community we sweep called in CHP claiming our sweeper side swiped his parked car. CHP requested inspection of the truck. Made the appointment,CHP and Resident showed up for Inspection at our home.Made that arrangement for their convenience. First comment from the resident was “ How the hell can you afford to live on this property” CHP officer knew us from over the years & just laughed. CHP informed the resident working 24/7 for 25 years nothing new for ol RVR SWPR. There was obviously no damage to our sweeper from a side swipe.End of story.I never get tired of the street sweeper image. Fueling my boat at the local 76 station always a few laughs also over the years.” Is that Your Boat”? Same thing with politics have never discussed P&G with customers, not once.

Just to show what kind of a guy Robby is, when my son was in the 9th grade, I took him up to Rob's place on the River to get some swag signed. (we'd been friends for years) Rob talked to him about his plans and future and told him that if he didn't graduate high school, he'd come back and kick his ass. My son sent him a note in '99 to tell him that he'd graduated, and Robby sent him some more signed swag and a $100 to help with College. Most approachable guy in professional sports.
