Is it a thought every summer? Or are you just used to it...... I can take 110 for a couple days but not for 90 days straight! LOL

Mandelon, see your sig line...can you handle that for 90 days straight? summer has it's perks here;)

but yes it's FUCHIN HOT!! day and night and with me working outdoors it gets old fast. I really have no desire to go back out in it the heat to go boating this time of year, so yes after a few years July/Aug SUCK ASS!!!:D

I'm also curious about the heat and how you deal with it June-Oct? I was thinking about places such as Havasu, Boulder City or Palm Desert, but I'm just not sure yet.... Normally during the summer months Havasu is 30+ degree's warmer during the day than in SoCal, and people here think its hot lol

Just like you would deal with it coming for a weekend or week. Hang by the pool/river, not work outside to long, AC, lots of drinking. And oddly you get use to it and it becomes the norm. Ive lived in AZ for 6 years coming from San Diego. And I love it. The laws and open usable spaces, people. Three months of hot followed by 9 of paradise.

Congrats, glad you are enjoying it. My Dad moved out there about 20 years ago. The first few years he loved the summers but then he found himself traveling a bit more during those months. He now splits his time between Havi and Show Low and couldn't be happier. It helps that he was retired and not trying to generate income.

We have owned vacation homes for years and always like the warm weather. For the past 4 weeks I have been here full time and love it so far. It is like going back to the good old days. No traffic, stores not crowded, no car pool lanes, and I can just run down and launch the boat in 5 minutes. In the late afternoons I take our little dog down to channel for a swim and then come home and swim some more. So far a great change of pace from the hectic crowded cities. Also there is a lot of great people in Havasu. Thursday is movie day!

After growing up outside of Syracuse, NY I will never complain about the heat. You take the constant rain and clouds, the fact that you may have only 10 weekends to use your boat and maybe 1/3 of them are worth a shit weather wise, and then in the winter it is snowing and freaking extremely cold. As cold there as is it is hot in Havasu. Like when you wear sneakers you cannot feel your toes. Seriously cold and miserable.

Funny note though I was laughing and telling my wife last weekend when she saw me wearing shop gloves while moving things out of the truck. Only in LHC do you need to wear gloves in the summer. :D

Tony,

Are you guys here full time now??

We're going on our 1 year anniversary full time after owning a 2nd home for more than 25 years and other than the fact that we don't have a Costco closer than 2 hours away I really like it here for all the reasons that you list above!!

We like to take our bikes down to the island during the "Other 9 months" and ride around Rotary park.......during the summer just hanging in the channel on the pontoon in the late afternoon usually heading out just before sundown.....very nice:thumbup:

PS.....Thursday night is Taco Night for us at MadDogs.......We'd love to have you guys join us one of these days!:champagne:

I always thought Starbucks would be a prime location down in one of those shops by the docks, and London bridge resort, in the channel.?? Boaters pulling up the sand, getting their coffee, snowbirds out for a morning walk in the channel.....:D.....;)

Come on guy - why not build a huge box mall on the edge of town with 10% occupancy. :D

I think there is (or was) a coffee place under the bridge below the Heat Hotel......I thought it would do great for these reasons but didn't seem to do that well....but I think you could open a Starbucks and make it work......that would be the 4th Starbucks in town BTW.

Congrats, Karl, sounds like you are happy with the place you live, and there are a helluva lot of people who ain't, so enjoy it.
My singular complaint about my place is that it is in California. I have yet to find a way to remedy that.
Nevada is calling me.

The departure of my family started with my eldest son a couple years ago. He couldn't be happier, and it takes him 90 minutes to get back here to the lakes and people and such that he does miss, and then another 90 minutes to get the hell outta here and away from all the crap he doesn't.

I have to do this in a long-term plan, and I am plotting it regularly.
I dunno what the people leaving vs. coming stats are, but the jobs are definitely leaving.

When you guys moved to Havasu... Did you keep your property in CA? Rent out your CA house?

My wife will want to keep a place in OC...
