Will have to check this place out. We usually stay at the KOA in Chula Vista.
It's pretty chill. Nice balcony in the restaurant overlooking the pool and the bay. We stayed on the back row they have nice patio furniture and gas fire pits. The bike trails are pretty decent to ride down.

It’s ok we’ve done it for the 4th of July and we’re supposed to go during the month long Halloween party this October but may cancel our weekend spot. It really depends on the section your in and hook ups or not. Bring bikes and a golf cart. We actually like going to lake Skinner better but we go to both spots and we live in Temecula.

Which transmission and transfer case is in the bronco? What steps do you take to flat tow? Column unlocked, transfer case neutral? Transmission in park?

87’ ford bronco with auto C6 and manual transfer case. To flat tow I:
1. Place transmission in neutral
2. Transfer case in neutral
3. Key in on position
4. Disconnect battery

I’ve towed it for thousands of miles for years like this. We did 6 weeks on the road this summer from Southern California to Montana/Canada border.

I’ve got a Solo Motorsport bumper and had Richer Racing fab up 1” D-Ring mounts with brackets that tie into the frame. I use a Blue OX 10,000lbs tow bar with the D-Ring attachment.

Each area of that park has a very different feel and vibe, if you are within a couple hours I would do a quick day trip there to figure out which section fits your style.

We've been once and liked it, and we will go back in the future.

Looks great! I’ve considered doing something similar as I’ve only pulled my raptor behind the motorhome. Only difference is I have the E4OD.

Thanks!

We try to stay in the middle section I circled in red either grass side or lake side for sunset. Either way it’s a short walk to shore fishing and the kids go play and make forts in the area in between. I’ve been told the spaces are a little tighter but our friends have a massive 5th wheel and didn’t seem to have a problem. You can rent boats if you like fishing for stripe bass it’s a Great Lake for that. They have a splash pad for summer and a store that has a slushy machine so the kids have another destination to ride bikes too for snack and whatever. If your kids are a little older or you don’t have kids some really cool small wineries really close to the campground. Playground has a Little Rock climbing wall and a few other normal playground stuff.

Just had my bike stolen neighbors bike and as I was chasing them they dropped one of the neighbors kids bike.

We jumped in my truck but they lost us down the bike path my truck couldn’t fit.

They just kicked all the homeless out of riverbed by me in LBC, kind of funny they all have new electric bikes, I wonder where they got them? Sucks you lost your bike. I kkep mine locked in bike rack of rig, then i have 2 more locks on them also. I know they can still cut them off but will hopefully move on to something easier.

It’s not the RV spots fault.
almost all campgrounds in SD are experiencing issues with theft.
South Carlsbad will drive around in golf carts after sunset and tell you to lock up bikes and generators.
Camp neighbor did not think anyone would take genny, so he did not lock it. He woke up at 5am and it was gone.

It’s not their fault. But knowing it’s an issue and not doing anything about it and the security guard telling me it happens all the time kinda makes them complacent.

There are better places to camp without these kind of problems.

First trip out and we got it stuck…Our friend with their gasser A class did just fine and we followed, but we got stuck…

A few hours later and here is the setup at night. Need to take better pictures on the next trip in a few weeks.

Dig! 🤣

I was wondering if the leveler would help this situation? Will they get enough weight off the rear to dig under maybe put some wood for traction?
Typically we put blocks or wood underneath the jacks and they jack them selves up. From there it's either plywood, traction boards or carpet. Sometimes we unhook their trailers and move them with our trucks.
My preference is they don't get that stuck, makes my truck work less when pulling them out.

Got to keep that momentum going. LOL
Like what hondo said, momentum is key, once you let off you are stuck and don’t make sharp turns and try to go straight as possible. The front tires act like plows when turning.

The enclosed hit a hole and got stuck and once we stopped, the RV got buried.

We have the tracks you can put under the tires, but it would only make it out 6 inches a time. We needed more than 2. Robert and his friend were digging for 2 hours. Then, a family in a tundra came by. They were the nicest family. We unhitched the trailer. The Dad had his kids start digging, and hooked up his truck. Pulled Robert forward enough away from the trailer. There is not a great place to put straps on the front. Then, he hooked up to the hitch and pulled Robert back to the road. Got our trailer and helped us get back on the road. We went to a different spot since there were other large RVs in our camp as well. The kids told us they love looking for people who need help. The guy knew exactly what he was doing and I was actually worried about his truck, but he said it was fine. I’m not sure there was any amount of digging that would have help.

The levelers with wood blocks didn’t work. It was already buried to much and would just sink.

Robert ordered a few more tracks just incase

Yeah there definitely isnt a good point to pull from under DP mohos
I have a buddy who has a buddy LOL who built a winch setup under the front of his DP motorhome. Works pretty well but still need a truck and or strong anchor point.
Getting stuck is the worst. glad you guys got out.

Something like one of these?
Yep, the brand we have is MaxTrax. Robert’s family tries to stay away from using wood. Their uncle used wood once and it cracked and bounced up and damaged some of the undercarriage.

Robert might order these as well. I think @SW_GLASS told him about these. They also could work as leveling blocks.

Well I just sold my second RV since I started this thread. Made lots of memories with this one. Of all the stuff I buy and sell I think this is the first time I am sad to see one go.

Congrats. Seems used RV are selling.

My father listed an inexpensive pull trailer on Thursday and sold it Friday. Bought it less than a year ago (used) for 13k, used for 3 months in the Sierras then sold for 15k. 🤷‍♂️
