Question for you all, cranked up the Fridge in the RV the other day, all good and cold, today load the fridge and freezer and the fridge warmed up, freezer still cold.

It’s a Dometic RM1350

Thoughts?

I'm new to the RV game but I've had issues with ours in big heat. From what I've gathered so far they just dont work well in heat and it's best to get a regular one and make sure its powered up . That and a bigger TV is what I'm doing to ours when I finish this doggone Howard project

Did the light come on when you opened the door? ...And is it turned on high?

One of the biggest short falls of RV refrigerators is there are no fans so it can only absorb and expell heat by convection (most residential fridges are this way inside as well). If you add a small battery powered fan inside, and one of the 12v fans that goes in the upper vent outside on the roof under the cap, it GREATLY helps it's performance. Specially in higher ambient temps.

Are you running on electric or propane ?
Propane helps the refrigerator stay colder .

If your freezer is working then your fins in the fridge should be cold.
It's a double door so it's double trouble in the heat.
I've added foam to separate the lower portion to help keep the upper area cool
I also added a fan to the coils like this. Doesn't draw a lot of power.
You should have a fan on the backside of the coils too
We freeze water bottles and add them to the fridge.

Gas or Electric? ... I'd run fuel if it sat for any length of time.

If you have an interior light the kit I used had a spade terminal that just plugs on to the power side of the light.
If you don't have a light then you'll have to run a wire to the back side of the fridge to a power source.
The cooling fins are the ground.
The switch is right on the fan. The one i posted a pic of was just a general pic.
This is the one i have

Do you have a tube attached to a slider that is on the right side of the fins?? Slide up for colder and down for warmer.

Hot air on the back needs to flow up and over the coils, best if it exits upward, not possible if in a slide so place baffles to route hot air out the side above the coils, ample insulation filling any voids around the mounted frig, interior circulation fan and minimize door opening.

Double check the slider clip, like said before make sure it is on a fin and towards the top... Ask me how I know!

Make sure your rig is level.... even off a little bit and it can be a problem.

LIke said they aint the best in the heat.Grab a good sized computer fan and attach it near the coils facing up(open cover on outside and install fan in there).Only add warm drinks at night before bed or into the freezer first during day.

Ever notice even on a warm hot day when you travel your drinks are pretty cold when you get home or stop a couple hours later? Its because they need airflow to the coils.Ive never done the inside fans but i hear they help too
