With a class C license in Ca what is the max weight you can tow with out a Fifth wheel endorsement?

Do they go by the gvwr on the sticker or are you ok if it's unloaded.

14,999 gvwr. They go by the sticker.

I did talk to a CHP officer and a Commercial Officer in Anaheim. They both said that if you have a tandem axle trailer, they won’t question anything (unless you’re doing something stupid). But if it’s a triple axle trailer, they said those are generally all over 15k, so they’re higher on the radar.

anything over 10k and under 15k you need the 5th wheel endorsement. Over 15k you need non commercial class a

Or buy an F-150 and you need no endorsements.

My dad did it a few years ago. Said it was pretty easy and straight forward. At that time the hardest part about it was trying to find a DMV lady that knew about it and didn't think it was a commercial license endorsement.
