Safety chain mount point

ive been needing to add safety chains to my trailer. Trying to find the best way to attach them. Originally was just going to weld them to the tongue. But remembered how my old trainer had them. I have some leftover u bolts that I’m going to weld to the bottom of the tongue. Wondering if it would be okay to have the little S hooks on those or should I weld the ubolts through the chains and be permanent.

Yeah it’s weird the chains I bought have the s hooks on both sides. Previous trailer had just chain with a shackle that would always get stuck. Figured the hooks would be easier but was surprised to see they were on both ends.

I used this bracket from Extreme Trailer for my safety chains. It’s bolt through on one end of the chains, and even has a cool place to hang the truck end of the chains or cables when not hitched to truck. I added this when I did the new brake actuator and installed a pivot hitch.
