I'm leaving in morning out of San Diego Harbor heading for Two Harbors for a night and then cruising down to Avalon for a night returning to San Diego Harbor early Sunday.... I'm running a 31' Tiara w/ twin small blocks.... who wants to guess fuel budget? C'mon it'll be fun...

150 gallons of fuel @ $9(?) ave. a gallon = $1350.

dont even want to guess the fuel bill, but that sounds like a great trip. the more i think about it, selling the toon and and maybe even the jet bote dropping the storage in parker and getting a salt boat that I could keep at the house and would only need to drive 20-30 minutes depending on what ramp i want to use looks better and better.

As some on here know.... ocean vs river is VERY different. I've done both and salt is my jam.

completely understand, years ago i had a salt fishing boat and for sure a different style.

Yep, winner winner chicken dinner.... thats what I figure. just spoke with a buddy who has same Tiara [but runs big blocks] he got 1 mile/ gal last weekend fishing back side ... ran out of Newport so 72 miles total= ~$700. A lot has to do with rpm as we all agree.

I owned probably the exact same boat. San Pedro to Two Harbor and back at 1800 Rs was $500 plus 5 years ago. I’m going with $1400 in your case.

I ran the same boat from Kona Kai to Newport and back down. We rolled into OSide on fumes... trolling the whole way.. that day was 1500.00 in fuel and we caught a mackrel. Talk about a kick in the balls ....that one still stings...

Im guessing 1850.00 to 2000.00 in fuel. Id still go!

Sounds like a fun trip, definitely take pictures and share with us! My Dad used to run a 85 carver w/ twin 302’s . 3 gallons to the mile. He would have a rough time today making trips if he was around still at current fuel prices.

Oh yeah but lady not a fan of the blind ocean boating regardless. Truth be told I was half heartedly making this run due to winds last several days....tough getting schedules aligned with peeps I want for this length of time onboard if yaknow what I mean.... windy.com is my bible and I want super flat water for a 5 hour run.

Those of us on salt can speak to the fog phenominon... I've slowly inched my bow in a bank and lost it after 5 feet sometimes.
