That’s not a member but a moderator. Lol

Doug spilled $10 of beer on Dave’s foot. Only problem was it was his good foot. If he dropped the beer on Dave’s bad foot It probably would have fully healed it instantly.

The sole reason I came to the show was to check out the pre production speed cars. One of my largest concerns about the speed program was the interiors and plastics and what it was all gonna look like. The original one is more of a race car and not something nice..

The pre production cars were bad ass! The door panels were setup for speakers. The dashes were nicer than I expected and the second glove box screen was sick! All the plastics had a carbon look to them.. I was really impressed.

The seats were comfortable.. Someone asked Robby why they were so bendable and he responded go try a can am or a RZR. I have owned both and none of my seats bend around like that.. doesn’t matter though they suede was bad ass and technically the seatbelts hold you in the car.

I didn’t check out the welds some guys are bitching about.. fuck em. The car is LIGHTYEARS ahead of anything on the market. I have three right bow and am trying to pick up two more on Monday.

My only reservation is I wish the back seat had a little more leg room. Can AM is definitely larger in that regard.

That said the booth was jam packed.. I’d be surprised if I don’t end up getting covid from that experience.. 😳

Robby really needs a better PA system and some screens added to his program. Couldn’t hear him or see a lot of the things he was talking about.

As far as the seats, all sub $1500 carbon or composite shell seats flex a little, even the FIA certified seats.

These are not steel framed, cushioned, off road suspension seats like a PRP or a Simpson that we are used to in UTVs These are race style composite shell seats. with cushioned covers over them. If you go sit in a $1k Sparco race seat it feels exactly the same as the Speed seats. This style of seat is also a lot lighter than a similar suspension seat.

No my stock, steel framed RZR seat does not flex at all. But the mounting and slider system flexes and twists all over the place, meaning the seat flexes and twists all over the place. Speed has the seats solidly mounted to the car, but yea the carbon seat shells are going to move around a little.

This was part of the VenomRex booth which is a wheel company. We recently did a photo shoot for them and they will likely end up being industry partners with rdp in the future!

Went over to the uncensored motorsports booth.

For those that don’t know the history Chris was partners with Adam from wired 4 Sound. When Adam moved to Havasu Chris stayed behind in Temecula.

This is Chris’s car and it was pretty bad ass. What is really bad as is they built this in two days before the show start to finish. It will get redone after the show with fiberglass sub enclosures etc that will incorporate storage and all kinds of cool shit. Was really good seeing him at the show it’s been a long time.

I am thinking about having them do the install on my pontoon boat.

I have always wanted to goto Maestro’s (any of them) and had never been. The odds of getting seating on a Friday night for a party of 9 are about zero.. especially in Newport. Earlier in the day I called and had a conversation with a lady and we got really lucky that I was able to talk her into it.

Anyhow I wanted to buy my buddy and his family a really nice dinner as a thank you for flying is out. I get restaurants are expensive.. but good lord. Lol. That was just shy of 3k when it was all said and done between the bar and the dinner itself. 😳. That took about a third of my Vegas winnings right off the table.. lol.

It was one hell of a good time though, and the entire staff was coming to our table and taking shots with everyone. Hell even the bartenders were coming up to the other side of the table to drop off beers and hang out and party Lol. Most the patrons were looking around like wtf? Everyone in the place was wearing suits and ties.. and our group came in shitfaced with shorts and t shirts.. lol. The one thing I have always been good at is how to work a bar.. when we went in I bought four rounds at the bar and made fast friends with the bartender by basically tipping him “heavily”.. word got out pretty quick to the staff that we were the fun table.

one of the most fun and memorable experiences I have had at a restaurant! Good company / good food / good booze.. doesn’t get any better.

I really wish Stacy was there for that experience. It would be hard to duplicate.

I’m going back into cash conservation mode now.

From there we went back to the hotel but their bar was closed.. So we went to some bar down the street and it was wall to wall packed..

If I didn’t get covid at the speed booth it woulda been here. Bad decisions that honestly I kinda regretted this morning.

Pretty sure I got everything from the trip.. but I left a little dignity at the hotel this morning when we were leaving.

This part doesn’t have any pics.. but I ran out of smokes so I took an Uber to a gas station.. well next thing I know this guys getting on a freeway and I’m like wtf? He takes me to Huntington Beach or somewhere and drops me off at some closed gas station. Obviously this turns into a shit show because I’m arguing he isn’t dropping me off in the middle of nowhere, which turns into an argument about all kinds of shit.. he was saying this is my address, I didn’t pick this place I told him when he arrived to take me to get smokes and I don’t care where..

I end up walking to some 7/11 getting smokes and Uber back. Poor Tyler got left in a lawn chair and passed out. He ended up finding his way to the room. I didn’t get back for like 45 minutes..

Whole thing was flipping crazy. 😳

So this morning we got up and returned to the airport and was home by noon.

The cars at these private terminals make me feel poor. The jets will make even rich people feel poor.. lol.

Makes you kinda realize the different levels of money. I’m flying home in a 5 million dollar toy and there’s many many levels above that. When people use the term “jet money” that is an actual thing. 🤪

That concludes my trip to the sand show which is quickly becoming one of my favorite trips of the year!

I am thinking about getting a pilots license now. I don’t think I could ever afford to hire the pilot and rent planes big enough to haul the whole family.. but maybe get a license and rent a 210 every once in awhile.

The blue and white X3 looks bitchen, but those two little vents on the windshield are not going to do shit for airflow. I left a gap all the way across below our windshield and it still gets hot inside the car unless it's cool out.

We're regulars at Maestros. Yeah pricy but we feel good in comparison to other restaurant offering the same fare. For example 20% more cost than Larson's and Flemings but you get 100% more.
The enigma with Maestros and is unlikely to happen but If they fux up and your meal sux they will most likely not take it off the bill nor replace it. They try and fix it on the plate and return it.

Ali and I usually drop $350 to $450 there.

They want the bar crowded. Gives the place an atmosphere of popularity and importance.

Seriously? None? That's crazy. You would think trailers and toy haulers would pick up some biz there.

I could have completely missed them but we walked around the show twice and the only trailers we saw were flat beds

I know Universal was there with a few trailers and I'm pretty sure Carson was there.

The upscale aluminum trailer company (forget the name, ATP?) had a nice toy hauler there.

Lots to see for sure bought a Razorback belt temp gauge/sensor and about 12 beers.

My next build will be a Can-Am Defender HD10 Limited. It will be a fun cruiser with plenty of room and A/C.

I haven't taken an uber since covid but you can just jump in an uber and say take me anywhere? I always had to pick an address before I could request the urber.

I really wasn’t at the show that long to even get to see most of it. Definitely next year!
