Heading there in a couple of weekends, been there 2x before but want some recommendations for wineries, restaurants, taverns etc. Staying in Solvang and have that lined up, been to Matte's Bros Tavern Restaurant before so would like to try other places.

Pinot's, Sav Blancs, Cabs and Red Varietals r my favorites.

Dinners at The Hitchin Post, Red Barn, Don Carlitos.

Breakfast at Paula's Waffle House in Solvang is a must. Favorite greasy spoon is the LongHorn Cafe, next door to the Maverick (don't drink there, terrible hah).

Lots of other foo foo places that come and go, but these are some mainstay favorites of mine.

Fun little valley, between Solvang and Santa Ynez to kick around the trinket shops, and the Casino, you can have alot of fun :D

They have Winery tours, that hit the most popular ones that are within a 20 min radius, worth it if you ask me.

They ruined Andersons Pea soup making it vegetarian.. Check out Ellen's across the street for amazing Dinners and great breakfast.

Look up Millhouse on the boards. I think he has a winery and a bar in the area.

Rusak Winery. Very good wine, you get to keep the glasses.

In Los Olivos we ate at Sides Hardware ( A nice Restaurant ) and stopped in at Carhartts tasting patio. Both very good.

Went to a few others.... kinda blurry by that point though. I'll try to remember. So many good choices.

I agree with all the recommendations. :thumbsup I'll add one more, just after the summit on Hwy 154 stop at Cold Springs Tavern. Very cool spot only about a mile off Hwy 154 on Stagecoach Rd. Good place to stop on the way to Santa Ynez.

I just moved from there, unfortunately I worked all the time and didn't get out much. I will add the the Longhorn Cafe is the best breakfast in town. 2nd would be Solvang Restaurant for Ebelskivers. We really liked going to Avant, we always had good food and service there, http://avantwines.com Also, there is a 76 gas station at the top of Ave of Flag's in Buellton, they serve a killer tritip sandwich for lunch on Tues and Friday's. The Hitching Post will be the best steakhouse dinner hands down. Plan on being there a couple hours. Grappolo's is a good dinner too. Make reservations for all the dinner places. There was a little pub that was really great, then it sold, and the food quality went down. Fitzpatrick's tavern, on 1st St in Solvang. Still has a decent patio to sit and drink at, beer and wine. I'd try it again and hope the food improved. There is a place called Bacon and Brine, my wife knows the chef and loved the food. For me, too fancy lol http://www.baconandbrine.com I have no clue what your tastes are but those are some of my picks. I'll ask her about drinks tonight, I don't do wine.
