Built my fender runners today as well as got the old fenders ripped off and the new ones installed. New ones come down about an extra 2 inches vs the old ones and looks really nice. Also got the wiring repaired and new lights installed. There's only a couple little things left for the trailer...

Also, I sure hope these were from some repair and not original install like they appeared to be; in which case them fellas over at Extreme outa be ashamed of themselves for even keeping scotch locks on the premises. These are only a few of close to a dozen I cut out.

So heres the name, I designed and ordered today, and plan on installing it after I get the boat back from wrap.

It's worth noting that I lean extremely far right, also the boat has been done in a very clean simple look as to restore the original from the factory appearance. So kind of a triple play on meaning. :)

Gel coat is officially finished! Only 4 weeks late, but when you're getting the buddy deal you cant complain about how long it takes lol. She is officially back on the trailer and at home for the first time in months, but she won't be here for long because she's leaving again as soon as a slot opens up at the wrap place. Once again, keeping original graphics but am doing it in a wrap vs total respray of the boat.

Shes back after a small hiatus. My wrap guy fell behind schedule with some of his other jobs but is finally ready to receive this old girl so i spent some time wet sanding the repair spots to ensure a good adhesion of the vinyl. Also got a staple print from him. This was his 2nd try but the 3rd which I saw on the computer is a dead match. I couldn't be happier with it except for it actually and finally making it onto the boat!

Dropped the Ultra off to be wrapped today, now patiently awaiting her return. Hopefully I'll see her again and ready to go in a week or so!

Nope!!! They are original install from Extreme. When I put new LED's on my 2001 Extreme trailer last year, I found the same thing. Not one sealed connection on the entire trailer, but they are all sealed now. Hard to believe they used scotch locks and open butt connectors. Made me wonder what else they cut corners on back then.

By the way, your boat is looking damn good now. Did you paint the trailer yourself? It looks great. If not, who did it for you?

Travis next spring!!!

painted it myself with some help from a couple friends who transitioned into boats from rv/autobody repair. I'm a straight up mechanic that also does electrical. painting is not exactly in my wheelhouse but I think I did a descent job.

She will no doubt spend some time on Lake Travis but shes going to be my Lake Austin boat. Bertha is my primary Lake Travis boat.

I also want to do some traveling with her. Maybe LOTO in a year or so, I haven't been there yet. I also want to get her to back to Havasu soon!

Well, it looks like you did a very nice job. I have to get mine done this winter. I have been putting it off for too long.

Wow, I haven't been on Lake Austin in many years. Used to camp at City Park. Then they started restricting everything so much that it wasn't much fun anymore.

We are going to try to go to Possum Kingdom and Eagle Mountain next year. I still want to go to Powell, but don't know if I am up for that long a drive anymore.

I love Powell. I haven't been since I was in highschool. Damned friends keep getting married and having babies. I can never get anyone to commit. I have yet to make it up to PK. Maybe one of these days.....

Wow, great meticulous mechanic and fascinating posts with pics and excellent, interesting writing.

I was in Austin for 5 years, loved it, lived on Town Lake.

Lake Travis was almost dry.

It was nearly 50ft low when I moved here and fell to 65ft low before it came all the way back up in a period of 3 week in spring of 2015. Last spring, Lake Travis came up to the 2nd highest level it's been in its history since the 1940s only being bested by the floods of 2012 and topped more than 25ft over full pool. my marina was more than 100yds away from the shoreline with the parking lot and street and neighborhoods in the area completely flooded out. Four flood gates and full power generation were open at mansfield dam, the maximum without completely flooding out downtown austin.

Rubrail is on! I finished hours ago and still cant feel my thumbs from pressing 50ft of insert in an inch at a time. All she needs are some TX numbers and this girl is water ready!

Thanks everyone for following. Posting the build progress here is what kept me motivated to keep pushing forward through to what is now the end!

I'm sure I'll be doing upgrades and add one along the way and will keep posting as stuff happens, but the restoration is officially done:D:D:D

Ive been using some of my extra free time to build a small shaft swept back Bravo1 XR. Almost completely out of spare parts too. It took the left overs from about 4 different scrapped drives and very patiently assembled them together. The drive probably went together and came apart about 15 times getting all the bearings to roll properly, the clutch to shift, and all the gears to mesh before I did my final seal job on the drive (also using spare seals from left over seal kits).

The only new parts were a fresh water anode kit, a $9 needle bearing that I couldn't save, and of course the gear oil and a can of phantom black paint. I think I have about $85 dollar into the whole build.

The plan is to put it on the Ultra and replace the dated notch back 1x drive

Why the hell not, right?!

Boat name and TX numbers finally went on the boat today since I was cleaning her up and getting her ready for her first real season!

I also had the privilege of meeting @farmo83 and his uncle and another neighbor in person today; we even shook hands! They are the first inmates to see this old girl in person. It was pleasure meeting you all and I hope to be your go to for your Hallets!

Hitting the water tomorrow!

Awesome to meet you as well! The boat is def speaks to all the work you've put into her and it shows. The other "neighbor" was actually my dad. I hope my uncle's leakdown goes well !

Your uncle told me last night! Lol sorry I didn't put 2 and 2 together. That is one badass piece of property y'all have down there. Growing up having something like that to go to must've been simply awesome. His leakdown went pretty well, there was only one cylinder just barely outside of limits. I told him to run it for the summer and we'll recheck this offseason to see if the condition progresses at all. The engine is actually very healthy considering its age and the hours on it.

After getting fried a couple weeks ago I decided it was time to install the bimini. It's nothing special, just plain white vinyl on an aluminum frame. I did feel the need to to add some stanchion supports to it though so i could put it up and still drive fast.

It's likely to be an in the cove only bimini and will get put up before going anywhere. Sorry only picture I took tonight was of it put up.

Finally getting around to replacing the last piece of carpet today before I hit the water again tomorrow. The carpet in the bow was not nearly as bad as the rest of the carpet in the boat when I bought it but I guess I use it more than the previous owners did because it already gave out on me. Heres where I'm at now, waiting 30 minutes or so for the glue to setup before I make the wrap around the step.

I also fucked up the first piece and had to rip it up real quick and start over, and since there was glue already down I had to lay down the whole piece and just start trimming. 2nd try is substantially better I think.

And the time has come. The old drive sprung a yoke seal leak, I guess the previous owners didn't run her nearly as much as I do which is saying something. I've put about 15 hours on the current setup so far this season. It felt like the perfect time. Goodbye notchback Bravo1, hello sweptback bravo1x clone!

and a fat ass friend of mine was leaning back in the copilot s chair through some chop and busted the shit out of the seat base. Im taking the opportunity to rebuild the bases for both captains chairs.

I had intended to do an ignition upgrade on the Formula this weekend but the marina debacle squashed that idea. Seat bases got bumped ahead in line! Im at 26hrs this season!

Built today. Need to resin them in the next couple days. Also meet my new beeter work truck, "Giselle"

Great thread! Love the story of its rebirth. I also learned some things.

Gs Marine is who works on my ultra. Greg's son Cale is a buddy of mine.

Maybe ultra fest will actually happen next year. Would love to see your work in person..

Brought her out for the first time this season... I know I'm getting a late start :( some of the front upholstery was lifting up and the studs that hold it down to the boat are long gone (rotted away)

I'm not quite ready to pull the entire front insert so I'm bandaiding it for now with some 4200. Here's how: lol
20210507_182614.jpg

I also got to perform the first oil change on the engine signifying the official end of its break in period !

Here's a couple random shots from on the boat last season. Theres a couple of my isolator setup in there too that I took for a member on here at somepoint too.
